Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Maybe Labradoodles are not often thought of when people say they want a good watchdog, but all that is going to change when I tell you about my Vern. I knew shortly after I brought him home that he was special. I could tell by the way he barked at the dog in the mirror and once peed on the floor at the vet’s office when he caught a glimpse of this adorable cream-colored Doodle in their mirror on the way out the door. Sometimes, he even went on high alert when he felt something wagging off…

A couple of nights ago, as we were walking the dogs, we stopped to pick up the wild life camera to check to see if we had captured any woodland critters. We did get a couple of shots of interesting “Wild Life”.…

I was all ready to upload a magnificent guest post from a dear friend of mine, when NEWS happened. Sometimes it just falls right into your lap like that. Well, tonight Milton was lying on the floor gnawing on a chew toy when Jeff discovered something priceless, collectible, and purely worth its weight in gold. A tooth!…

Step 1: Teach your doodle how to "open" the fridge. I did this by rewarding him every time he touched the towel (or rope), then every time he held onto the towel with his mouth, and finally only rewarding him when he pulled on the towel. This is easy if your dog likes to play tug with you.
Step 2: Get a toy bottle similar to the one pictured below:…

Paz and I had a great learning experience which I wanted to share with all my friends at Doodlekisses. Paz is a Pet Partner registered therapy dog, and for the most part, his behavior is truly exceptional. We live in Lower Manhattan, where the streets are crowded with dogs, people, noise etc., and Paz has learned to ignore almost everything that approaches, however, the area in which I definitely needed improvement, is learning to remain calm when I'm walking Paz as we are being…

I just had the pleasure of attending a puppy reunion! Back in June, I hosted 7 week old pups for a week and they all went off to new homes and grew and grew! This Saturday, the owner of the momma dog, who had the pups at her house for 7 weeks before they came to me thought it would be fun to get them all together again. What fun the dogs had--running and chasing, playing and hanging out--some have had haircuts and others are very fluffy still, some are bigger, some quite small! It was great…

Recently, my oldest sister wrote an email to me and told me the next time I make it to Indiana I should bring Fudge and Vern. These are words I never thought I would ever hear from my sister. Somehow, in a family of three girls I am the only one that ended up being dog crazy. My parents never wanted a dog either, so it was a mystery to all why I ended up loving dogs, but for as long as I can remember I have adored dogs. My oldest sister married a wonderful man who was raised in the…

Milton loves to cozy up whenever and wherever he can. As of now, we still do not allow him on the furniture or in the bed, so he will curl up in any overflow that topples onto the floor, like pillows or a quilt.…

I have not had time to keep up to date with this site the past few months. My Mom, who is 91, has been in and out of the hospital since May; she lives six hours away. I received a call Tuesday morning that she had fallen again and was transported to the hospital. I rushed over on Wednesday, fortunately she did not suffer any broken bones and I was able to take her home on Thursday and return home on Friday.
We had another Birthday party for Rusty, his 4th, his friends and supporters;…

Hi, it’s me… Harley
All my life I’ve hung around my DM (doodle mom), usually about 6 inches from her feet at any given time. Although she knows me pretty well, she doesn’t know everything!
Yes, she’s got some stuff down to a science, like:

Since Luna has been housebound due to her allergies, she has been driving us a little crazy with her extra energy... and lately, her exuberance has turned into LOTS and LOTS of barking.
It's like she has decided that since she's mostly confined to the house, the world needs to know she's still in the neighborhood...
She's been barking at strange shapes blowing in the wind in…

The Nelsons would formally like to introduce you to the newest member of our family - Mo, the Goldendoodle!
We've always had an affectionate nickname we've given any runt of the litter, whether we see a litter of puppies, or a bevy of gambel quail in our yard. The littlest one is always the goofiest and the cutest. Therefore, Mo.
The only question to my husband was, "How are we going to distinguish 'Mo' from 'NO?" He doesn't have an answer. But that's her…

Quincy and I went into the woods today to take a walk on one of our favorite trails and to see how much damage had been done by the recent visit we had from hurricane Leslie.
It was a beautiful day and we were sauntering along lamenting the fact that the wind had toppled so many trees. We were listening to the birds singing, the occassional squirrel…

What can be more tedious than the parent or grandparent that constantly boasts about the achievements and genius of their progeny? Perhaps someone that talks incessantly about the brilliance and accomplishments of their dog. However, I DO have the cutest and most intelligent puppy on earth, so I am completely vindicated.…

Happy Birthday, my sweet, evil, Monkey-Boy Kangaroo-B^tt Decky-Ducky-Doggie.
I remember like it was yesterday bringing you home, a ragged bundle of fear covered with every possible bodily effluent all tangled up in dirt and burrs, dropping you in the tub and soaping you up while you peered up at me with those big expressive eyes asking, "Is it okay? Is it okay?" Toweling you off and seeing your beautiful red curls for the first time while…

Ten beautiful babies arrived right on time September 4. 4 Girls and 6 boys. Maggie was a little confused about the whole thing in the beginning but has settled down to become a great mama. Getting up every few hours to check on the babies and mom really takes a tole on my sleep but It is something that I feel I have to do. Really need to invest in one of those picture baby monitors.
It is so wonderful getting to know each little baby and I feel such a…

Have you ever wondered when watching America’s Funniest Videos, how it is that someone has a camera ready and running to capture all that unlikely footage? Whenever anything filmworthy happens around here, there is no camera anywhere nearby, much less on and recording when the award winning action is going on.
Two cases in point:
Last week, I headed down to the barn for the morning llama feeding and chores. My two dogs, Bayley the Goldendoodle, and Mayzie the Bearded Collie always…
