Most of you know of my struggles with Bella and poop. She started eating hers from the day she came at 10 weeks old. We tried Everything possible to stop it. She's got "leave it" down like a champ. Problem is I have to be out there to catch her. We got a house with a huge back yard to be able to let them out and have fun playing and frolicking, not for me to stand out there on guard.
We thought staying on top of all the poop disposal would solve the problem, but then we noticed she is not only eating hers, she started eating Murphy's, while its still warm! So we have to be really on top of getting out there to catch it. I know, really gross. The only thing that keeps me sane through this is Knowing my dogs poops are healthy and free of too many germs.
Except today she has totally crossed the line......as I was watering plants out front and letting them romp around, she found ANOTHER dogs poop in the yard, and decided to roll, and roll and flop and rub herself all over in it. OMG! The smell! And of course I had just given her a bath Friday. Thank goodness I also shaved her down really close so with hose in hand she got a quick shower. This is new and beyond disgusting to me.
I don't know how much more poop I can take. I really think I should just rehome her to a farmer and let her just have a heyday with all kinds of manure, cuz obviously she loves poop more than keeping me from loosing my mind!
Kidding of course, but does anyone feel my pain out there? I post this in total jest as in light of all that's happened in our country this past week, and with some of our own dear members health, I am truely appreciative that this is the biggest problem in my life right now.

Oh man, I'm so sad that you backtracked there because I have access to farms with lots of cow, horse, mule and chicken poop!

Oh Sue, what a crappy day you had!  I would seriously think about aversion therapy.

OMD, that would be awful!!!  Myla goes poop, goes forward a few steps and kicks her hind feet in the air like she's saying "that's done!" and then turns around, sniffs towards it and then her ears go back and she backs away like "OMD, what a stink!!!!" and that's it!!!!  I have no suggestions either!  Poor  you!!!!

I am so sorry to hear this continues. I have not, TG, had this problem. Maybe it's time to consider aversive therapy like with a shock collar although that would mean continuing to be there to catch her in the act. I am sure you have consulted people but maybe a new trainer consult?

Oh dear Sue, that sounds really tough. No suggestions, what a rough situation!

OH, wish I knew the answer.  Hang in there.

Wow...you have really been so patient with her.  Here are a few ideas....wash her mouth out with soap, tell her she won't get any real food until this stops, only poop...ground her....take away all her toys until she can act like a "big girl"....tell her that Murphy is becoming your "favorite Doodle"....cry and tell her it's all her fault for getting you this upset....threaten to take her to the "pound" (and go ahead and pack her bags like you mean it).  That's it...I'm out of ideas.  LOL

Oh Sue, this would put me over the edge, too! I have no suggestions, but lots of sympathy.

I feel your pain when it comes to rolling in sh**.  I have not idea how to help with that, I haven't been able to stop my dogs ever (they prefer fresh cow patty or the blended mix of pooh fresh from the manure spreader).  As for eating his own pooh, I was told to add apple sauce to Shaggy's food when he did this.  For some reason it makes the pooh taste bad.  I was told to add it to all my dog's food so that their pooh would also taste bad.  I didn't actually have to do this because after a week of being on better food (Blue Buffalo - puppy) he quit eating his own sh**!!  Thank goodness :)

Ugh that's awful!!! I'm so sorry! Zoe used to eat poop when she was a puppy... Never her own but the cats poop (cats used to come into the yard when we first moved in). One time she ate poop, felt sick, and threw it up! It was so disgusting and it smelled worse then if it were regular poop that came out the right way! She never ate poop again...
