Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
It has been a full week since Scottie has been fostered with us. He doesn’t have the self-confidence of his big brother Harvey, but he has come a long way in a week. Amazingly, he has had only 1 accident in the house and that was the morning after he arrived. He hadn’t figured out the stair-thingy yet and was afraid to go down the stairs. But fear of the stairs is ancient history (at least in a dog’s mind) and he is a stair master.
He is learning how to walk on a leash but is still not too sure what that long red thing is that is attached to mommy and him. He has joined the Doggie B Goode taste testing crew and giving me good feedback on the new dog cookie recipes I have been doing. Unlike the rest of the pack he will drop the treat on the floor if he doesn’t like it. He is beginning to realize when a treat is sailing through the air in his general direction he should open his mouth rather than let it bounce off is nose. I think by the end of the week he will actually catch the treat.
Scott has been really patient with me while I brush out all the little mats in his coat. He even tolerated me trimming some wayward curls that were obstructing the view of his wonderful eyes. I plan on having DH & DD help with pictures this weekend but until then here are some pictures that Suzey Berry took during the Doodle Train excursion last week.
Scott is beginning to learn the command Sit (because I make everyone sit before they get a treat) and doesn’t realize he is learning the command Come. But he has always comes with the rest of the pack when I say “Everyone Come!” followed with a “Hustle, gang hustle”. Today he was outside by himself and I called “Scottie, Come!” and by golly he came running. Probably a fluke, but I am going to brag anyway.
He has picked up a bad habit from my pack as well. He likes to run along the back fence and have a bark-fest with the Boston Bull Terriers on the other side. He still has that high pitched puppy bark.
In the past week Scott has acquired a few nick names but the one that seems to be sticking is F. Scott Fitzdoodle. At night while I am trying to fall asleep I have been planning what kind of blurb to create for Scott’s Petfinder post. They usually start out something like… Meet F. Scott Fitzdoodle the kidnapped and abandoned son of the Duke of Fitzdoodle… I think there may be a fairy tale in the making.
