Yesterday F Scott took his first real walk on a leash. I just took Scott and Harlow (I think he would have been traumatized by the beagles’ constant stops to mark). I used the brace lead so Scott would be close to Harlow. At first he wasn’t too sure about the leash, but since Harlow seemed to be enjoying herself Scott walked along beside her. We just did a walk around our block. A long the way we met some small children and their mom who wanted to pet Scott. He was very shy and we took time introducing the children to him. Eventually he calmed down enough to let the children pet him. He even wagged his tail a bit. We will walk some more today.

Scott is also getting use to the day-to-day household sounds. This week he overcame his fear of the sound the washer and dryer makes (good thing since has to walk past them to get to our bedroom). Today I was grinding brown rice to make flour. Scott dashed out of the kitchen when I began the first batch. But by the third batch he was laying comfortably behind me enjoying the cool wood floor.

Amazing how Scott is adjusting so quickly. He seems to be overcoming all the new noises, sights and experiences very nicely. What a lucky Doodle to have you and Harlow to teach him and show him the way.

Thanks, nina, for taking Scott into your heart and your home, and for helping him to learn to be a dog. I see a bright future ahead for this fortunate doodle.

Good for Scott. The learning curve is so amazing for these poor doods.

Shelby, I was afraid of the ice maker too. But then my sibs showed me how good ice cubes are... especially after playing fox and hound in the back yard. Mom said something today about getting the kids next door to come over and play. I am not sure what that means. Your friend, Scott

Scott.... keep up with the good behavior on walks.... Walks are so much fun! Glad you are adjusting to life inside a house... it's pretty awesome isn't it! There are lots of weird noises... our ice maker scared me when if first got home, but now I love it - why you ask? Because it makes ice cubes.... do you like ice cubes??? ~Shelby
