finally ready to deal with some old pictures in camera of my baby Houdini

Before I knew we had to put Houdini to sleep this summer I had taken some pictures of him. I have not been able to look at them, or develop them. I was just looking at some new pictures of Achilles and kept going to the pictures of my other boy. The only place I thought to share this traumatic event was here on DK. I know all of you would understand and appreciate it. So here is a picture of one of the loves of my life. Houdini was smart, sensitive, hysterically funny just a joy to have in my life! I still miss him terribly and cry at the thought of him even 8 months later.

Houdini was a great dog and obviously loved by your family. Your son with the long hair and beard looks very much like my son. Isn't this a great family?

Thank you for sharing your pictures and memories of Houdini. I know how you feel - I lost my beloved Spork almost a year ago, and still get teary-eyed looking at pictures of him. Losing him is what brought Bailee into our lives, much like Achilles came into yours. Here's a picture of my Spork - he wasn't a Doodle :) but he really was the best dog ever!
Bailee had a big hole to fill in my heart and she's doing a great job so far. Big hugs to you & Achilles!

We know exactly how you feel. We lost our sweet, sweet Clay over a year ago and the grief still makes us cry sometimes. Sophie is so different than him but she has filled a void that was very deep. Blessings

What a beautiful boy and I know just how you feel. We lost our "Buddy" last year also and I will always miss him. He was my soul mate but we now have a big goofy sweet doodle to love....and love us back. Thank you so much for sharing the pictures of your sweet boy.

Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures of Houdini. Its hard when you loose a fur kid and you have to go through the grieving process. It was over a year after the passing of two 13 year old dogs within 6 months of one another before we brought the boys home. Now you have Achilles to fill your heart and life, but Houdini will always keep his own special place in your heart.

The pictures of Houdini are wonderful. It is so hard to find the right words at times like this. The healing has started with the posting of his pictures. He will always be a special boy who owns a piece of your heart.

I am so sorry for your loss! I know how difficult it is to lose a pet that was once a family member. You're lucky to have so many good memories and photos to look back on! AND Achilles too!!!

What beautiful pictures of your family and Houdini. You will be very glad to have these pictures and your memories, as it sounds like you are beginning to be able to see more of the fun and less of the pain of loss.

Houdini was beautiful. I understand how painful it is. We lost our Lab about 3 1/2 years ago and I still cry over her when I think about her. For the first year after she died I could not even go down the pet food isle at the grocery store. I still have her picture in my camera so just whenever I want I can turn it on and there she is. Getting another dog helped a lot but it took 3 yrs. before we could do it. It is amazing how attached we get to our furry family members.
