Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I have joined the ranks of the DKers whose Doodles have short and snappy hair cuts.
It wasn't the plan when we took Chester to the groomers. I knew he had a few mats and his feet were quite sensitive (allergies and infection) so he wouldn't allow me to get near the mats near his paws. I had scissored a few of them out. ( I feel pretty bad that they were worse then I thought). I had been madly brushing him regularly but then I went away for a few days and it really got away from me : ( .
So we had to shear Chester it was quite drastic change and We are now getting used to it. I was mostly afraid that the neighbours wouldn't give him as much attention. They kept telling me not to do it. Chester loves the attention he gets from others and the Number of people We have met as a result of having the fuzz ball is incredible- Both as we are out more and because we have such a different looking dog.
So 3 Lbs of hair have been trimmed. He is 1/4 " buzzed. We have a sleek new look. Chester seems happier, friskier and he is spending more time on the couch and bed and less on the cool floor- so that Makes us happy too.
The lady who runs the Pet food Store had a great analogy for the spring groom- It is like their Halloween costume has come off and the real dog has emerged.

The groomer did a perfect job, im my opinion, and I bet Chester feels so much better. They are so soft when they get a short haircut. I just love it. In less than a month he will start fluffying up again. I would love to see a picture then. He will be gorgeous (not that he is not now).
That is a BIG change, but honestly he is adorable in both pictures! My favorite look for him will be when his hair grows out just a LITTLE bit, and then he'll look perfect! I actually love his ears!
All ready for some messy summer fun! It's always an adjustment, don't cry when the neighbors laugh. Myla gets laughed at all the time!
Chester is just as cute as can be both ways! I am seriously thinking of buzzing my boys. Owen has mats on his thighs and he rarely mats, Kona is more likely to mat and is getting to that point. ugh. I love the velveteen rabbit feeling they get when they are buzzed down. ;o)
Isn't it funny how different they look? OMD! Your groomer really did a nice job though. Tara always seems to enjoy her super short cuts more than I do too!
Chester looks sleek and fine. It will all grow out and then you can decide what lenghth you prefer.
wow that is a big change, but he looks cute. The groomer did a good job. Isnt Chester just under 1 year old? The crazy mats are probably due to the coat change. Maybe next year he wont need such a short haircut. I couldnt bring myself to cut Cooper too short so I cut her to about 1 1/2 inches. That has made a difference for her temperature wise!
