Hi Everyone! Sophie Bear here.
This morning mom sang me a new song that I had never heard her sing before; just when I thought I'd heard it all. It was something like "Hoppy Birthday to you..." I don't know what that means but mom says I'm a big girl now - one year old! I sure have come a long way since I was just a baby puppy, burrying my face in mom's winter boot. Here's a collage of my puppy photos. Wasn't I adorable?
Mom sure does go all out to celebrate me. She even put up a tree in the living room and decorated it in my honour! here's a picture of Winnie and I in fron of my birthday tree:
It seems like the whole town has been celebrating. Apparantly some guy named Santa comes around every year on my birthday to deliver presents to everyone. I must be one special doodle. But I'm not complaining! Under that tree was lots of new stuff for me. She says she's gonna try hard to make sure Winston doesn't destroy all my new toys. This morning I got homemade treats, and Winston got a kong with his special food in it. The best birthday present of all is all that snow. I love the snow! So we went to the park, all decked out in our Christmas bandanas and we got to play fetch until Winston destroyed the ball.
Then we got in the car and I could tell we were gearing up for a long trip because mom packed up all our stuff and put it in the car too. Mom said we're gonna visit Grandma and Grandpa. I don't know who grandma is but I got to meet grandpa this past summer when we went to the cottage. He was a jolly man who kept trying to get pictures of me. I sure fooled him though. Anyway, I was most excited because we were also gonna see my uncle and my little cousin. She's not a doodle but the next best thing - a little girl not much bigger than I am. I loved how she giggled when I gave her kisses all over and was so excited about seeing her again. Then suddenly as we were driving along, the car started slipping around on the snowy road and I could tell mom was nervous. Next thing I knew we were back home again. I guess we weren't going too far after all. It sure was snowing, so I didn't care. I'm always happy in the snow. Mom says we'll try again tomorrow.
So here we are, enjoying my special day doing all my favourite things. Playing with Winston, eating treats, and napping by mom's feet. I sure am a lucky little doodette. I get all the treats I ever need, a warm cozy place to rest my head, and not a care in the world other than when we get to play ball next. Plus, I have an awesome big brother (even if he does suck at fetch), a mom who loves me more than anything in the world (well, along with Winston and Kitty) and a Kitty who tolerates me when I try to play with her. What more could a doodette ask for?
Hoppy Birthday to me! Oh, and Merry Christmas to everyone! (I’m not sure what the Christmas thing has to do with me and my birthday, but whatever, everyone seems to like saying it lately ...)
