It's Fair Time In Ohio!

Well, it has been so long since it rained that I can't even remember our last significant rainfall. By that I mean one that lasted over 5 minutes. We have cracks in our yard that are an inch wide. The dirt is pulling away from the house ......... so, yesterday we are scheduled to walk with Hospice of Hope for the Opening Parade for our Local County Fair! This is a pretty big fair, noted by all out of towners that attend. It is billed as "The Little State Fair". Pretty big do in this part of rural Ohio! Anyway, so back to my story about rain ...... Yes, you guessed it, all day yesterday, it poured, and poured! (I'm not complaining though). However, since the fair is such a huge deal around here, the Parade goes on regardless. I think it would take a tornado to stop the parade. So, Sophie and I true to our word, we said we would walk so we showed up. Sophie had a great time. She was soaked. It wasn't so bad until the parade entered the fairground and we had to go around the Main Ring for all those in the Grandstands to watch and be announced. The ring was a lake. There was Mud, Puddles up to Sophies knees, and I'm sure there was some horse poo in there as well since we were in a horse ring. OMG ....... Sophie was a muddy mess by the time we finished. However, I can now attest to the face that people think that even soak and wet Doodles are adorable ..... all along the parade path you could hear people commenting on how cute she was! Bet you can't guess what we have been doing this morning? lol

This morning Sophie looks a little more like she has a hangover than she just walked in a parade. This pick was at about 5:30 this morning. She has now had her bath and it is off to go visit her friends at the Local Hospital! You guys have a good day ---- Sophie says she and Lucy wanna go back to the fair tonight!

It have been raining sooo much around here that Gavin's nose is beginning to fade (snowrain nose?) Sophie looks perfectly "relaxed."

We are having rain in Virginia too and also it is State Fair of VA week! You can count on rain for that week. Haven't had any measurable rain since Sept. 3rd. until this Sat. Even the okra was wilting and had to double up on the watering of it and the rest of the veggies.

We got the rain on Sunday, which made us NOT able to go to the North Georgia State Fair. The doods weren't going, but I'm still jonesing for an ear of roasted corn (they're just better at the fair!)
