Holey Moley... has it been a ride these last few days. At times bumpy, but always an adventure. The first two nights  was hard on all of us. I hated to hear her howl, cry,  and whimper and ended up having her sleep with me. Well she slept, I was afraid she was going to fall off the bed so the first night I put a mattress on the floor in the kitchen and we slept there.  The second night I lasted 1 hr with her howling then put her in bed with me..as soon as she went to sleep, I put her back in the crate. She howled for two hours and then finally went to sleep. I took her out for two bathroom breaks. The third night was better and then last night, she slept for 4 hrs before waiting up whining. I took her out to go potty and back in the crate. Today I have been putting her in the crate while I do things that I can't do with her under foot. She whines for a bit and then goes to sleep. When she wakes up, I put her outside to go potty and then keep her out for a couple of hours.  She flits from toy to toy and loves her play pen. I leave it open and she runs in and out. There has been a few accidents but she goes in the play pen..so for that I am grateful.  could not post photos,so they are on my page. Again thank you to all of you for your kindness and support during these first few days.

So glad to hear the crate thing is going better for you. Maggie is in hers right now so I can have some DK time in the other room. I have not been so "busy" for quite a while. My kids got to a relative self-sufficient stage and then BOOM. puppy.

So glad she's adjusting to the crate better! It's so hard, definitely not looking forward to crate training our new girl (she was born on Saturday! 3 in the litter, we are 1st pick!) So 2 months from now I will be in your shoes! A family that got a labradoodle a 10 days ago emailed and said he sleeps all night, does cry for about 10 min but last night she covered his crate with a sheet and gave him a chewy bone and he was so busy with the bone he didn't realize he was alone, he chewed on it for a bit then went to sleep! I added a "Crate Training Tips" page to the website, it's "In Progress!" so feel free to shoot me new tips when they work for you!

Welcome home Lily! Glad you are learning-crates are no fun I know but it's the best thing for you! Be a good puppy and sleep in the crate! (I would feed her in there also and out her in and out when you are home)

Good to see there is some progress. It does get easier, believe me but those early days can be exhausting.  All worth it in the end though!

Glad things are getting easier.  It is amazing how much better and easier things get with time.  Do you feed her & give her treats in the crate?  That way, she'll start to like it even more.  Sounds like you're all on the right track!
