Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Lilly was born on June 2, 2011. I have been waiting for her arrival since January of this year. Well really I have been waiting for her since our lab mix Molly went to doggie heaven in 08. I just didn't wear my husband down until this year. We.are.not.getting.another.dog.no way.no how.over his dead body would there be another dog in the house while he was alive. When I called my daughter and told her we were getting a puppy she asked "Did Papa Scott die and noone told me cause I know he said "No more dogs."  We pick her up next Friday. 10 more days, or 9 more days if you are reading this on Wednesday..or unless I counted wrong. Friday July 29th, 2011. We will drive 3 hrs one way to bring her home. It should be interesting since we can't be in a car that long without stopping to eat or pee or both. Going will be a breeze, we will see how coming home will be. I have been closet shopping since the breeder notified me that a litter was in the making. Well really I have been shopping in the comforts of my chair and when the packages come, I tossed them in the closet. They are now out and ready for her arrival. I don't think she will need all the stuff that I bought, but I am doing my part as an American to keep the economy rockin' and rollin'.  We have always had rescue dogs. Adult rescue dogs. I was a working mom and did not have the time or energy for a puppy. We just brough the dogs home and they were fine. Fit in with our family like they were suppose to be there and we mourned each one when it was there time to pass over to doggy heaven. So this is my first puppy (well since I was a little girl and promised that I would take care of the puppy but after a week my mom did cause I flaked out)  This will be the tail or tale of life with Lilly.

Enjoy your new puppy, it is going to be a lot of work but wonderful at the same time. I can't think of any store where you can't find some for your doodle, even the lingerie store, they do love to eat underwear.

Thank you everyone for your kind words!! Scott is working at home this week and met the usp man with two more packages. If I was younger/ thinner/ Scott may have thought I was ordering stuff just to see the UPS man..well he is eye candy:)  Last night we had to drive 70 miles to Lincoln for varnish for the new floors in Lizzie's Cottage. I found the perfect doggy toy box..Scott just shook his head and said only I could find something to buy for Lilly at a home improvement store..

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. They grow so fast, but are so much fun.. Love'm heaps. I'm so impressed how a pup can make a house laugh so much at their antics. Have fun.!

Oh I remember those unbearable days waiting for Cooper. I was like a little kid on Christmas eve for WEEKS, I drove DH crazy! I was prepared for puppyhood and didnt find it too bad (I wasnt working at the time) but DH was totally unprepared as he remembers the puppies he had growing up being easy (his Mom tells a different story). Puppys are hard work but totally worth it. Enjoy your bundle of fluff!

We said the same thing for two years but here we are with 13 week old Riley who we both adore.  Get lots of sleep and get your house ready before you get your puppy because the first couple of weeks are exhausting!   I made a 12 hour journey home with Riley when he was nine weeks old and was so nervous.  Lots of new DK friends here helped get me through and they will help you too.  Travel Crate, Puppy Pads, Plastic bags, baby wipes, water and bowl, (food for me) , stuffed toy with Moms scent on it....now what else?  If I think of other things I will let you know.  Good luck.

It's so exciting, I look forward to lots of pictures.

We are so happy for you and Lilly!!!  Puppies are a lot of work but so worth it and then later when they are grown you wonder how the time fly so fast.  Pack your car with the needed dog items plus some paper towels and wet wipes just in case.  Can't wait for the pictures.

I said all the same things...NO MORE DOGS... but found I couldn't stand it and now I have two. What the heck happened?? Dog people just get it....life is better with a dog. I started over with a puppy and I was tired, but I must have forgotten all that rather quickly, because I got another one a year later. Enjoy every minute of your new puppy and keep on shopping, sister!!!

I can't wait for pictures of this little girl!  I know you have waited a long time...I did too so I totally understand.  I had 4 dogless years after my Ruby died and waited a year after putting down my deposit for Bexter.  It will be SOOO Worth the wait.  Really savor the moment.  Happy for you!  This is the reason why (although I already have my puppy), I can't leave the group "Waiting for New Puppies" because it reminds me of all my excitement when first getting Bexter (who is sleeping in my arms right now as I'm typing this...it'll be a miracle if I don't end of with a million typoes).  Enjoy!
