Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Lilly was born on June 2, 2011. I have been waiting for her arrival since January of this year. Well really I have been waiting for her since our lab mix Molly went to doggie heaven in 08. I just didn't wear my husband down until this year. We.are.not.getting.another.dog.no way.no how.over his dead body would there be another dog in the house while he was alive. When I called my daughter and told her we were getting a puppy she asked "Did Papa Scott die and noone told me cause I know he said "No more dogs." We pick her up next Friday. 10 more days, or 9 more days if you are reading this on Wednesday..or unless I counted wrong. Friday July 29th, 2011. We will drive 3 hrs one way to bring her home. It should be interesting since we can't be in a car that long without stopping to eat or pee or both. Going will be a breeze, we will see how coming home will be. I have been closet shopping since the breeder notified me that a litter was in the making. Well really I have been shopping in the comforts of my chair and when the packages come, I tossed them in the closet. They are now out and ready for her arrival. I don't think she will need all the stuff that I bought, but I am doing my part as an American to keep the economy rockin' and rollin'. We have always had rescue dogs. Adult rescue dogs. I was a working mom and did not have the time or energy for a puppy. We just brough the dogs home and they were fine. Fit in with our family like they were suppose to be there and we mourned each one when it was there time to pass over to doggy heaven. So this is my first puppy (well since I was a little girl and promised that I would take care of the puppy but after a week my mom did cause I flaked out) This will be the tail or tale of life with Lilly.

We said the same thing for two years but here we are with 13 week old Riley who we both adore. Get lots of sleep and get your house ready before you get your puppy because the first couple of weeks are exhausting! I made a 12 hour journey home with Riley when he was nine weeks old and was so nervous. Lots of new DK friends here helped get me through and they will help you too. Travel Crate, Puppy Pads, Plastic bags, baby wipes, water and bowl, (food for me) , stuffed toy with Moms scent on it....now what else? If I think of other things I will let you know. Good luck.
It's so exciting, I look forward to lots of pictures.
