My dog is a cat

My little Zoey looks like a dog and barks like a dog but has all the habits of a cat...she is nesting she will scratch and scratch and turn in circles until she gets comfortable. She can jump up on things like a cat too. Ok I know she is a dog but has anyone ever seen this nesting thing in a puppy???? I never have seen it before.

Hi Marianne. To answer your question Are this all mini doodles like Zoey or do the big ones do it too? My doodle is suppose to be "standard size" although, he is only 3 goofy months old so I can't answer what size he will become. Vet says 50-60 lbs

Okay. Now I am not so embarrassed. We have 2 cats, and my dog imitates everything they do. He walks along the back of the couch ( of course he falls off ) and he tries to jump on to all the tables and chairs ( he falls backward each time), he climbs into the bathtub and scratches until his toenails are dulled If they swat him, he swats right back. He does whatever they are doing at the moment. We have even gone so far as to seek out other dogs who are walking down the street ( no we don't know the people) and ask if they will stop to socialize with our dog for a moment--okay we look and ask if we are begging . The walkers seem to be taking a different route lately :) " MEOW" puppy.

How funny, Zoey's new nickname is going to be "Kangadoodle" I love it.

Oh yes! Bailey does the "nesting" thing, too. He scratches at the tile floor, his doggy bed, or the hardwood floor (much to our dismay!). Like some of the others, he is also very paw-oriented - he loves to swat & bat things around with his paws. One time we took him out to potty & he spotted a moth in the grass. He coiled back slightly, just like a cat, pounced on it, swatted it twice with his paw, checked to see that it was dead, & pranced off with his tail in the air! As for jumping, he's quite adept at doing the "Kangadoodle" where he jumps up with all 4 feet at the same time, much like a startled cat. We've taught him to do this on cue now, too, & when he's really excited he'll sometimes execute several in a row - can make walks quite entertaining!

My husband is convinced that a cat lives in Fenway's body because sometimes she acts so much like a cat. Like Oski she uses her paws to bat things around just like a cat. She also nests. She will circle and dig (on the wooden floor, I just don't get it) and then lay down once she's satisfied that all is just right. As the others have said she can jump like a cat too and does often during play. She also rubs up against our legs like a cat sometimes. Maybe she really is a cat!

This is Becky's oldest daughter, Laney. I used to have a cat. He acted exactly like your dog! I have never seen a dog act like a cat but I have seen a cat act like a dog! That is very strange!

Max does some but our yorkie always made a nest. We called it his donut hole!!
