Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone... it's Shelby! I am 6.5 months old and have decided to take matters into my own paws and submit a journal entry. My human (Christine) has been spending plenty of time on DoodleKisses, but hasn't written a blog in a long time. It's not that she didn't have anything to share... she just didn't know if it was blog worthy (would people want to read it). I know you would want to read a blog post if I authored it... so here it goes!

The past 2 weeks have been a bit crazy - Christine's schedule has been unpredictable... I never knew when to expect her. It was a very busy time for her at work, but now it is summer and she seems more relaxed and things are back to normal. It's getting hot here it Texas and while I don't like the heat... all the humans in our neighborhood have started turning on the fun water sprayers. Christine says they are called sprinklers. I don't know why, but Ican't help myself... when I walk by them, I get really excited and want to play in the water... Christine is nice and usually lets me play in them for a bit and cool down... that makes me one happy doodle!

We are back in puppy/human school. We are taking the AKC Star Puppy Class. I am the new kid at school... the other 3 dogs in our class went to kindergarten together. They are nice though and we became friends the first day. We have a new teacher and she let us try a few things on the agility course... boy was that fun. Christine was supposed to lure me across a raised board to get me to walk across. Well, I showed them... I just pranced across... I didn't need to be lured... but I did get a yummy peanut butter treat at the end.

Also - I have a new puppy friend... Malu. He came from the same breeder I did, but he has different parents and is a couple of months younger than I am. We have had 5 or 6 playdates and they are so much fun! Wednesday after our play date - We walked Malu and Minga (his human) half of the way home... we live less than 1 mile from one another... isn't that cool?

I've been trying to supplement my own diet while on walks... and Christine doesn't like that - she always takes the yummy treat away. In particular I like frogs and snakes - dead ones. I've seen some live ones, but she is quick to take me in a different direction. While walking my friend Malu home - we came across the biggest snake we've ever seen on a walk, it was about 3 feet long.... Christine jumped, but then took a closer look to see if it was a dangerous snake (it was not) and I was much more interested in my friend Malu - so I just kept away like a good doodle should. I was not in danger... Minga held my leash!

The last month or so the burrs have come out in Texas and while I don't mind them much - Christine is constantly picking/combing/brushing them out of my fur. Last night on our walk, I met two basset hounds and got really excited and was rolling around. When we got home - we discovered I was covered in burrs... Christine said she's gotten at least 200 off of me and there are still a few more to go, but I don't sit still while being brushed, so it's taking a while to get them all out. By the end of today - I should be burr free. I hope the burrs go away soon!

My puppy impulses got the best of me the other day... and while Christine wasn't thrilled with my decision... I think I made her laugh a little bit and then she began cleaning up. The photo below explains it all... and now the TP is way far back on the bathroom counter... I guess I let it slip that I am getting taller.

I've got to go... She's getting ready to run errands, and I get to go! PetSmart, Home Depot and Sonic (they give me a treat)... fun!!! I hope you enjoyed my first blog post!

Dear Shelby,
I love TP too, but my mom and dad learned to keep the bathroom doors closed :( BUT when my human brothers visit, they never remember so.....
Love,
Ned

Hi Shelby,
We are such Princess's here in our home that we dicatate and Mom types! WOL
We have never tried the TP trick but Mom just warned us not to try it - maybe we will try it when she goes to sleep tonight! Think of the look on her face when she wakes up to TP all over her bedroom in the morning.
We spent the day on a dog beach here in NJ with our friends Mya, Mac and Dexter. We met a new Doodle there and they are now members here in DK - Ernie and his Dad's name is Martin. We probably will see him next week since they live in the same town as the beach. We are so tired from our run on the beach that Mom had to postpone giving us a bathe - don't tell her but we are faking being so tired because we really hate the shower but she probably knows that. She always says 'I know you better then you know yourself' - not really sure what she means by that but she always knows when we are about do to something that we aren't supposed to. So maybe the TP thing is not good idea after all. I think we should discuss this before we try out your new 'trick'.
Have a great night - we are off to get into Mom's bed before she does so we get the best spot,
Samantha and Charli

Shelby don't worry about the TP. I do it too! It is so much fun how it rolls around. I even made it "snow" in the bathroom. Boy was that fun! Between you and me I think my mom thought it was really funny especially since my daddy had to pick it all up. She said it was "his" fault anyway. It seems everything is his fault so it works for me. Have a great day and keep it up. You are becoming your own little dood. :0

Shelby, you are a great blogger! Isn't TP the best! My guys think it's like magic the way it unrolls and you can drag it all over the house. It sure sounds like you have a great Mom, and I think she must love you LOTS. Thanks for blogging, and I'm betting YOU'LL be the STAR at your AKC Puppy Star class.

Great blog Shelby! Loved to hear of your antics. You are a good writer too. Keep your mom busy and you keep blogging. Be safe out there. We are very envious that it is warm where you are. We live in Idaho and are having a very cold spring. Hail today on May 21!!! Argh! Keep blogging ;)

Hi Shelby, I am Oliver and I live in Florida. I loved your blog, keep them coming...I wish my human Mom would let me do a blog, but she says I mess up her computer with my big paws...Well what does she want I am a 13 mo, old goldendoodle, and I weigh 71 lbs...So of course I have big paws, lol...My Mom & Dad think I am very special though, they take me all over with them, something about getting me to be social, well I guess I am social, lol... I love all kinds of people, and kids too, and I love belly rubs...I like TP too!!!..Mom keeps the doors closed so I can't get at it very much, but if she forgets, welll....Anyway, nice to meet you and I look forward to reading more about your adventures. Oh ny human Mom freaks with snakes too, anything that crawls or slithers is not allowed near her or our house...
