No surgery!!! All I can do is thank God and all of you here on DK for your prayers and good thoughts and the wonderful doctors in Estero. 14 hours of hell but we do have a good outcome IF all proceeds like it should. Rooney did not have an obstructed stomach, whatever showed on the first xrays at 5:00 a.m. did not show on the noon xrays. They kept him on an I.V. all during this time and he had had nothing to eat at all. The second set of xrays did show that his stomach and intestinal walls along with his pancreous (spell) were thickened. They believe that this is due to his eating something that he had a reaction to. If it was something from outside they feel that this could have all been caused by parasites or did he have a reaction to his organic chicken jerky that we use for training treats? We may never know. There is also a chance that he could have IBS (irritable bowel syndrom - my spelling is horrid) but I doubt that he does as he has never had runny poop. We left the hospital at 6:00 p.m. Right now he is on two meds - one to stop his puking and one to treat for parasites. He can only have itty bitty sips of water and kibble is fed by hand two or three at a time till he proves he can keep it down. If he vomits - back to the hospital we go. He looks none the less for the wear - a shaved right leg is the worst of it. I've attached a photo of him before I took the blue bandage off. His fur is so thick and the little leg under there so very small. He isn't even 15 pds yet. I know that you all understood my fear and worry - we all love these fur babies so much. I really can't express what is in my heart for all of you that sent your kind words, thoughts and prayers Rooney's way! I was so afraid - but I knew that you were all with us in spirit. All I can say is Thank You!
