I feel so out of place with only one doodle so many of you have more than one... If our home was bigger (its only 950 square feet not including our finished basement) I'd love to get another. Daisy might be jealous though ... So that's a factor too. But I imagine the more doodles the more fun! She's hilarious and is always keeping us on our toes ;) I never thought I could love an animal this much!!!!

I admit loving the fact that I have two doodles.  But, there are times when I wish I could love on just one doodle without the other one flying over to get loves too.  It would be nice sometimes just to love on one at a time!  Enjoy your special doodle.

Riley is an "only" and spoiled! I work from home so we are together all the time. I would love another doodle but like most money is a factor.

Very true Nancy!  We have enough trouble taking the "one".  She has anxiety in the car, but we are working on it:)

One of the very best things about having only one is that you can more easily take that one more places.

We got Bender because DH brought home a stray last year and she stayed with us for about 5-6 weeks.  When we found her a home Zoe was depressed for over a month and would just lay around sulking.  I thought getting another dog would help her tremendously and in some ways it has.

We love Ben but I have to admit that it's HARD.  Vet bills, double the food, double the treats, double the energy, and yes walking both at once is hard for me (I'm 5'2 and 115 lbs/Ben is 45-50 lbs, Zoe is 25lbs and HYPER).  The two are so different too so where one is needy in one department the other is needy in another dept.  I often think it might've been easier if we just had one but SHHH don't tell them I said that they will be so sad!

They do love one another and it's so fun to watch them play and interact!  They make us laugh every day!!!

I used the word "only" one and I feel bad .... She's the best dog and not our "only" dog ... I even miss her like crazy even when she's just at the groomers for a couple hours. I agree with everyone that I know I couldn't afford the pricey good quality food/treats for two doodles. Daisy likes being the centre of attention too ;)
I also wonder how the heck someone walks more than one? (daisy is 50lbs and pretty darn strong!)

Same here Elizabeth!  I would love another Doodle, but my DH feels the same way!  We have talked this over for hours and it always comes back to "everything is doubled"!  We so love seeing the families with more then one and all the fun their Doodles have together, but for the time being, Libby will be an "only" child!

We have an "only" also.  I would love another doodle but DH says "NO" lol...I sometimes feel Bailey is lonely even thought we go everywhere together that I can take a dog too...She just loves to play with other dogs so it is sometimes hard.... I started a meed up group for doodles and we have 31 members...We go to a few great dog parks here in town and her sister is not far away..We even have a few DK members that we see...

I have to tell myself that if I had two, I might not be able to afford the best dog food for two, buy her the best treats for her...and of course there is the collar obsession that I have LOL

So for now, I just admire the puppy pictures and look at the rescue pictures .....and dream of a two doodle household....

Enjoying one doodle is super special. We have had multiple dogs for many years. We got Kona when one of our Golden's died. A year later our Cavalier died and then the second Golden. Kona grieved the loss of that buddy for a month. It was awful to see how lonely he was, so we got Owen. Well, Owen did not replace the relationship Kona had with his old mentor, Earle. His wild antics were not appreciated by Kona at all. So while we have had at least two dogs for over 15 years these two are ill suited for brothers (even though they are half brothers). It is just in the past few months that they have seemed to enjoy one another. Owen is now 2 1/2. We do love having two dogs but it is not always perfect.

i often think about getting a second dog, but i know cooper is happier being the only one (when we lived with the inlaws and their dog)  (though she loves playing with other dogs). I do feel that we have a very special bond though, with her being the only one. dont know if i have the time and money for 2!
