My Darwin has been missing for a while now. His very reasonably sized self disappeared gradually, leaving a giant, massive fluff in his place. It was quite disturbing to see him slowly slipping away. And who on earth does this puffy monstrosity think he is?

Don't get me wrong, giant fluffs can be very cute and soft. They attract a lot of admiring attention, and they look amazing when the wind blows through their luscious locks. But they are a pain in the butt to brush and they pick up dirt, leaves, trash etc. like you wouldn't believe. Also, you can never see a fluff's eyes, which I find suspicious.

After enduring the massive fluffiness for a while, I decided I needed to locate the more reasonable Darwin. This was somewhat difficult to do, because it requires a good pair of clippers. And unfortunately, my clippers are busted. Of course, I could have waited and purchased some clippers like a normal sane person. I'm not really a normal sane person though... I have problems with patience. Instead, I grabbed a pair of sharp scissors (improvement from last grooming attempt) and hacked away at the fluff.

What did I find? Well, I didn't exactly find Darwin. But I did find a bouncy, happy, skinny thing with a frighteningly bad haircut. The bad haircut ALMOST overshadows how adorable this new, thinner pup is.

Reasonable Darwin, we miss you, but I have a feeling you will return in a couple of months...

Note from Darwin: Someone please take away my mom's scissors. Please. Oh, and take away her blog too. I'm tired of being humiliated.

I got one not to long ago...and I looked totally different too!

Your Mom did a really great job...and all Mom's tend to get a bit scissor happy once they get started!! You know??

Personally...I think that you look quite Handsome!

What I'd really like ...is to see you with your "Cute Nerdy" glasses on Dar...

I'll bet they look better on you than ever!!

Darwin, you look like a totally different Doodle!  I would never have recognized you if your picture had been posted as the Mystery Man!  You look great though.  I think I am getting close to asking my Mom for the same haircut.  She calls it my "summer cut" but at the moment those lazy summer days are not here yet!  Lucky you!

What a dramatic difference!  Kinda likin' the skinny Darwin - though both (I mean all three) are cuties!

OMD.....is this REALLY Darwin?  I'm going to miss your big, puffy self, but I think you look amazing with your "short do" too!  Murph says to tell you that short hair is way more fun "cause" you don't have to get groomed as much.  He also says you can run WAY faster with the "sleek" look.

@Jane - my MIL calls them piddle pads.  A number of years ago I had to ask why...not anymore!  :-)

Oh poor baby what did you do too him:( He lookes so unbearably cute now he looks skinny and sad :( I feel like sending you a present for putting up with your mommy (maybe a doodle cake?). The title of this blog scared me and Taylor to death but then I read the discription and I am so HAPPY your not missing.

His new haircut looks cute but he does look like a completely different doodle!  I know what you mean about the fluffy doodle - we spent five hours on Sunday trimming our two.

He's still a cutie no matter what. I just shaved Chloe but I chickened out and only took 3/4' off she doesn't grow her hair very fast. Practice makes perfect. Poor Darwin
