They say we do everything "big" in Texas... apparently rain as well. The water in my backyard is several inches deep. It's a couple inches even on my patio. Let me tell you - tons of fun trying to potty train a young puppy in this. Violet is a trouper. She checked it for a few minutes and then braved the lake that is our backyard to find a spot she could call her own. She came in looking like a drowned rat, but I was so proud of her.

I thought I would share some pictures of this unseasonal rain and our youngest Doodle trying to figure out how to work with this. :)

Hah.... Yea Veruca did NOT go out in this. She gave me this look like, "I can hold it." and went back inside. I had actually walked both girls in the front yard on a leash - it's on an incline so it was swampy but not pooling. I went in the backyard to take some pictures and Violet slipped out with me. I let her check it out and I was really impressed how brave she was. I think Violet would love if our back yard was like this all of the time, sans the loud thunder and violent down pour. The 2-6 inches of rain along the ground wouldn't bother her at her at all. She digs in her water bowl to play with the water... she splashes like our 18m old. I've never had a dog that loved water - it's really fun to see her play. I am hoping I can gently encourage a love of water in Veruca so we can take both girls swimming.

It's not raining right now... a little reprieve. So now its just a muddy swamp as the water recedes.

Oh my! Jackdoodle would be crossing his legs and waiting it out! Your puppy is a real trooper!

I can certainly see where potty training could be a challenge. Look on the bright side at least it's not snow and you don't have to shovel it. I go outside with Quincy each time he has to go and this would be more than I could stand. Violet what a good girl you are to go out in all that water, or do you like it because you have your own wading pool?

The summer came on hard for us too -- and we've had next to no rain all summer and actual temperatures of 108 degrees (insane!)... then suddenly the last few weeks it's rained. Today was just unreal. It rained all night the night before and was still raining buckets this morning.

Like I said, I was really proud of her. She is a water baby - but cold rain and loud noises take a little more bravery.

Such a good doodle! Shelby and I are in TX too.... but we haven't had quite that much rain. I am so happy thought that Shelby is NOT afraid of thunder or of pottying in the rain! Thank Goodness!
