Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Wow - what a week it has been! I have been to the North Pole to a place more cold than I have ever been. Mom calls it Michigan, aka Frozen Tundra of the North, and home. I just kept looking for Santa and those elves, I never found them.

I first knew something was up when my mom started making piles of her clothes and stuff and then my stuff. She started putting it all in this big red box that had wheels. I kept pulling stuff back out to chew on so mom moved the box on top of the bed. Then while mom was busy packing our stuff a big van came to my house, my mom called it the mobile groomer.

I didn't want to "get groomed" but the lady took me in to the van of horror anyway. There were all kinds of machines of torture in there. Mom says that I have to get used to grooming but I didn't like it and was mad when the lady made me get all wet. I HATE getting wet. I was a good boy though and after a while I got used to it but I never did like the sound of trimmers and I will never like getting wet. When the lady was done I looked really funny. Fluffy like a bunny (I love bunny turds - yum). I smelled kinda like my mom - flowers - sorta stinky really. Everyone thought I looked so cute but I just was happy that "groomer" left.

A few days later when I thought things had gone back to normal, my mom woke me up at 3:00 a.m. - WTD? She's crazy. So after I did my business and played a bit, dad got my breakfast but I hardly got anything to drink, I didn't think that was nice. Then we went for a car ride to the airport - we had to be there very early.

This is the part that is strange - my mom was nervous - she said something about trying to get through security with me without dad helping. I felt bad that dad wasn't coming with us but I was being a good boy mom said. So in security mom had to jump around taking off her coat and shoes and me out of my carrier and we went through a machine. I was a good doodle and everyone was petting me and saying that I am cute. Since I didn't have any liquids on me we sailed right through.

The rest of the way to the North Pole was easy. Mom wheeled me between flights and I just soaked up the attention from all the other travelers. Then when mom put me under the seat - that big airplane made a humming noise that is meant to put dogs to sleep. I was very happy when we got to our destination because by then I really did want to pee but I never made one noise. Mom was very proud.

I got to meet new friends - Cal and Boggy - they are Labs, mom saying we are related but I do not think so. They are too big - like dinosaurs. Bo played and played with me, Cal was not so nice. He would growl but he still let me jump on him - but he didn't like it. He is grumpy. I chewed on all his toys and I think he didn't like that either. Too bad.

The one bad thing was when I got scratched by an evil cat. I have a brother who is a cat so I just walked up to this one to sniff him. I wasn't even chasing him. How rude of him to scratch me, my brother doesn't have those sharp claw things so I learned a lesson. I screamed and cried for a little while because it hurt really bad. Mom said she'd like to take that cat for a looooong ride. I'm glad she didn't, why should it get a ride when I am the one that got scratched.

I will go to Michigan again some day, when it is warmer I hope cuz there is a beach at my mom's condo. I think I will like to dig in the sand. For now, I am happy to be home. Rooney

Oh wow Rooney, I never get to go to on airplanes, I once went to the airport, but didn't go on the plane. Mom says she won't put me in the cargo area, whatever that is, and I am way to big to ride in the place where people sit. Of course she could buy me my own seat, but I guess she thought of that, but was told no she can't do that...I sit ina seat belt in the car, so whats the big deal???...Anyway you looked so great in that carrier, and I hope you had a great time, even though that terrible cat scratched you...some of those cats are not nice...glad you are home and warm again....Maybe you will get to see Santa on christmas eve? or maybe your Mom can take you to the mall to see him...My Mom did that last year, they let all the dogs see santa one night, and we all got a treat from him....

Guinness, Murph and I have been waiting to hear from you about your big adventure. What an exciting trip you and your Mom had together. I can only imagine what a huge "hit" you made with everybody! I bet everyone thought you were the cutest dog EVER! We're so sorry that evil cat hurt you, and I can certainly understand that your Mom was pretty upset about that. Moms hate it when their Doodles cry. We're glad you're home now and safe (and warm). We don't live at the North Pole....but sometimes it feels like it. Thanks for the update, and we'll be waiting for the picture with the pilot.

Wow, Rooney - I sure wish I had a mommy to take me in a carrier on my business trips. You're quite the world traveler! And since I grew up in Michigan, I know how cold it can be. Next up: Brazil! Right?

Hey Traveler - I love your name - way cool but tell your mom that she can't kiss my face - totally yucko. My mom does this to me all of the time - like right on my muzzle and it is kinda gross. I've tried and tried to teach her to lick me but she just keeps planting her lips on me - WTD? Rooney P.S. Yes, watch out for those CATS - they are safe looking but carry deadly weapons.

Wow, Rooney! You've been having such a busy, fun time! I had to go into one of those 'vans of horror' too, so I know what you mean about that. All that riding on an airplane, first class--what a lucky doodle! I wouldn't fit. :( I didn't know cats could be so mean! Glad you had a mostly fun time. My mom says you're 'cute as a button,' and she'd love to kiss your cute little doodle face. Huh. I guess I forgive you, 'cuz you can't help it. Your pal, Traveler

I will not fit into this carrier much longer and mom says she'll lose her gold Delta status and have to drive then. This makes mom kinda sad as we got bumped into first class both ways and mom just loves "free cocktails". Hmmm, not sure what that is and I have my own tail so I didn't get any of those. I did get my picture taken with the pilot in South Bend. Mom will post the pictures soon.

Oh Rooney, I could hardly read your blog because I kept scrolling back down to stare at your sweet little face! It sounds like you're becoming one worldly, street smart dog with all this traveling! Jumping on labrasaurs and getting through the TSA screening! You are brave!

You look absolutely darling in your flight carrier and are lucky to be small enough to fit under the seat. Sounds like you had a great trip. Congratulations to you all.
