I really had some things that I needed to get done today and so off Rooney and I went.  One of the things that I love about FL is that most (not all) places are willing to let you bring a dog in.  We started out at the local nursery where I bought a Valencia orange tree.  I already have a lime and lemon in these huge pots on the lanai and I'm ready to try for oranges this year.  Then we went to the brand new Hobby Lobby that just opened near us and Rooney was happy riding in the cart, getting tons of attention from the store clerks and other shoppers.  He just sets in the cart, never making a peep.  Then down the sidewalk to Kohls, but this time as I was walking in with him, as I was putting him in a soft-sided cart, a lady who was walking out of the store turned to me and very loudly said "So you're just going to bring a dog in here?" and I said "that is the wonderful thing about Florida, they are welcome almost every place", and she says to me "not really" as she spins on her feet and walks away.  WTD?  The store must not care - there is no sign saying no pets, I walked right in the front door with him.  What a friggin grump!  So we did our shopping and then of course went through the PetSmart for one more Go Dog dinosaur - a pink one this time, Roo now has all 4!  It was a great day shopping with my doodle.

Does he actually just sit there this calmly ALL the time?

Oh, Rooney, you beautiful, well behaved boy!  Jane, I'm going to send Tori for a visit down south so you all can train HER!  This is just so sweet!  I LOVE this boy!

We always take Huff everywhere with us. I wish he could fit in the shopping cart. It would be much easier to control him. If we go to lowes, I put him on one of those big shopping carts that you use for wood and stuff. The people always think it is so funny. He loves to sniff everything (especially at petsmart). If we go somewhere (like a restaurant and have to leave him outside while we pick up our food, he looks inside the whole time as if to say, "Can't I come in? Please?" He is definitely an inside doodle. We take him into Lowe's all the time, I hope they never change their policy. We once tried taking him into a Joann's store, and the lady stopped us practically at the door and said we couldn't bring him because there was food. WTD? Food at a craft store? Maybe ginger bread houses (it was around christmas time). One time, they even told us he wasn't allowed in Best Buy. All of the employees love him there. Sometimes if they try to kick us out, I just tell them he is a service dog in training. I am bad, I know... What I will do for my doodle....

After looking at the damage the doggie did to the greeter at Home Depot, it's easy to see why they have chosen to change their policy!  Poor woman... Guess we'll have to enjoy the opportunity to visit H.D. until they spread the word and they all lock us out!  Wah!

Sounds like you had a great day out, minus the grump. I take our two into our local Lowes all the time. Most of the full time employees know them by name now. It's funny what F P said about the Christmas Tree Shop. I had one of the managers in ours say in front of other customers that Gus and Lily are better behaved in the store than most kids who come in with their parents.

Rooney is easier to take than the larger doodles to be sure!!!  I doubt Hobby Lobby would be letting Rooney in if he didn't fit into the shopping cart, which is smaller than a normal size cart, there is just waaaay tooo much breakables in HL.  Today I might go down to Coconut Point - a big outdoor type mall where Rooney would be allowed in EVERY store as long as they don't sell food.  JCrew, Coach, etc.  There is also a posh little pet shop and dog bakery and they will also pet sit for you by the hour if you wish to dine.  Everyone move down here!!!!!

I've been asked to leave Home Depot of late even though I used to bring my dogs. I got the corporate policy routine, too.

As far as I know, Kohls corporate policy allows dogs. When I called my local store they said that all of their stores allow them... so you weren't doing anything wrong! Hobby lobby surprised me though. I would LOVE to take Darwin to a craft store. I'm there all of the time! :-)
