Talk about tug at your heat strings. I just took Rooney, on a cold and windy Florida day to our dog park. We were early and there were no other dogs there - just a grandmother and her two small grandchildren. A little girl about 7 was just laying on a park bench coughing. I said to the Grama "oh dear, someone has a bad cold." She said "no - she has cystic fibrosis." By this time the little girl's younger brother had started to play with Rooney and they were running and chasing each other but all of a sudden Rooney went right up to that little girl laying there and started licking her hand. Before you knew it she was up and playing with Rooney too. I think for a few minutes she got to not feel so sick. Sadly the Grandmother had to leave then as it was time for the little girl to get her treatment. As they left I told them that Rooney comes to the park every day and that they should come back again, he loved playing with them. For all of us that have healthy children or grandchildren we need to remember to be so thankful!

It was like a sad movie - so much so that it was hard to believe and I was there. I just hope that she gets to come back! It looked like the Grama was doing a great job. Rooney is just a baby and sometimes can be a real little devil but today he was an angel. I'm so happy that he was able to make her laugh.

I'm glad that Rooney got to bring some doodle sunshine to that little girl, and I appreciate that you reached out them so that she can continue her Rooney therapy!

I am glad Rooney could cheer her up. Dogs are amazing. Thanks for the reminder about being thankful for healthy family members.

How terribly sad for that little girl, but I'm glad Rooney got to cheer her up for a little while.

Yes, we are very thankful and we are also aware of the amazing ability of a wonderful dog to help a sick person feel a little bit better.
