Southern hospitality and the Scottish Terrorist

Its been a very long week here. We had 2 dog visitors and someone is severely lacking in southern hospitality.

First, my sister's female field spaniel spent the week with us. Casey is a little grumpy and Finn decided he was in love with her.  He spent every free minute trying to win her affection. It was exhausting. Her growl sounds like she's possessed. I don't know if there are exorcists for dogs, but we sure could have used one.

#2 DS and his girlfriend and her year old Mastiff came in Friday night (right after Casey the grump left). Hartley (the mastiff) had never been on a road trip before, much less a 7 hr trip. Hartley had never done stairs before. Hartley is extemely shy. We planned for Murphy and Hartley to meet outside in a neutral area. It took about 15 minutes, but all went well.

THEN we headed inside. Hartley first had to master the stairs, a struggle for the 120 lb boy. He finally made it upstairs and we headed inside. Finnegan (all 35 lbs of him) decided to attack Hartley before he made it in the door. Hartley was backing out and away from the mad dog and nearly fell down the stairs he had just managed to climb.  Hartley was terrified of Finn and it didn't get better.

Finnegan's heritage has always been questionable, but watching him this weekend I am sure I know what a major part of it is :  SCOTTISH TERRORIST.

Finnegan, you behave yourself! "Terrorist" is not a good image for you! Give your mom a break!

None of this sounds like fun to me :) Finnegan was just letting Hartley know who was boss...LOL! Hopefully, things are back to normal now.

Oh I really feel your pain!  This has happened to us so many times with Murphy and "dog visitors".  "Scottish Terrorist"...love the description.

Since it wasn't our situation, we can armchair enjoy it.  You certainly got the extremes this weekend - grumpy growler, thwarted suitor, shy violet, Scottish terrorist.  You must be plum tuckered out!

From a distant vantage point, a hilarious story!  Had it been me, I'D be grumpy...and exhausted.  Wonderful description of the mastiff pup on the stairs!

My Mastiff had a horrible time with stairs.  Because of the barrel chest they need brakes going down, and front wheel drive to pull them up.  Poor Gentle Giants.  And a Baby.... oh my they are petrified of little feisty dogs.  So shy.

Sounds like they all kept you on your toes!  Finn, you are an animal - a lover and a fighter!
