Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Last Thursday I picked up our new foster Chelsea. Chelsea had to be shaved down to the skin because of all the mats. She only has hair around her eyes and the last 6 inches of her tail. When we got home I set a crate up in my daughters bedroom since she never plays in there thinking it would be a nice quiet place for Chelsea to adjust. Lexi got home from school we talked about Chelsea and her journey to us. Now most kids seeing a dog with no hair would ask what's wrong with it, not Lexi. The first words out of her mouth were "Oh mom, she's so beautiful and her eyes look just like a poodle".  Lexi then started talking about Chelsea needing a coat, blanket or something to keep her warm. How it was her turn to take care of the foster doodle. I told Lexi we would have to see how Chelsea does with kids, that Chelsea needed was rest. Lexi asked if she could sit and read to Chelsea if she left her alone, which I agreed. When I opened the crate to take Chelsea out, she ran right over to Lexi and licked her on the face. And of course Lexi had to say "I told you Chelsea liked kids, you should have listen to me MOM". Lexi spent the rest of the night in her room talking and watching movies with Chelsea.

After posting this blog on DRC, I also wanted to share it with the DK community.  My daughter amazes me sometimes and this was one of them.

If anyone gets a chance it is worth stopping on Tina and Clovers page to see this 7-year old in action with the dogs.   Tina, ALL your photos were just beautiful.  Hope lucky are your dogs.  They live with Cinderella  :)

Children see and feel what we can't, they see the sweetness and love in all living things...Chelsea saw that in Lexi and Lexi responded....I love it!!!!!

Sounds like a great match.  Perhaps Chelsea has a future as a reading partner for kids... sounds like she'd be great at it.
