Haley started throwing up last week. First time it was no concern. Large blade of grass and a couple of very tiny things that looked like chips of pine bark nuggets. He has been stealing the nuggets out of my flower border. Then Friday morning as DH and I were about to leave for an all day outing (no pets allowed) to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary Haley threw up a portion of his breakfast. We though he was upset because we were leaving him.

Saturday and Sunday were ok. Then about 1 AM Monday morning he threw up again. Through all of this he was eating, peeing and pooping and acted his normal self. So we just decided to watch him. Tuesday morning he threw up again and a couple of times during the day.

Wednesday morning off the the vet we went. She checked Haley out, temperature above normal, took xrays and found he was full of poop with a slight irritation to his digestive track but could not find what was blocking it. Got two different meds and a special canned food to feed him with instructions to bring him back Friday morning unless he got worse. So far he is doing ok.

The only two things that I can guess he has eaten to cause this blockage are the pine bark nuggets or lawn mower "droppings", very compacted chunks of grass that fall off the deck from lush spring grass. Haley loves them and it's usually impossible to get them away from him.

Hopefully the meds and special food will work. If not he will be having surgery Monday. Needless to say, this is very upsetting.

I am so sorry about Haley! I will keep my fingers crossed that the medicine works and the blockage moves....
Peri has a problem with bark and the grass chunks also. I have to keep her on a leash to prevent her from eating way too much of it...

That sounds so awful, I hope that Haley starts feeling better and the medicine works.
