I just dropped Guinness at the Vet, and they decided to admit him at least for the day to run some tests. I feel like these guys are always sick, and it's making me crazy. I try so hard to do everything I can to keep them healthy, but it doesn't seem to be working. Guinness had an upset stomach on Tuesday, some vomiting and refusing food. I thought it was an IBS flare up, so I didn't worry to much. On Wednesday he seemed fine and wanted to eat again, so I gave him plain chicken and rice, and he held that down with no problems. Yesterday he stopped eating again, and was lethargic. This morning when he refused breakfast, I knew there was something wrong. He is a little dehydrated (although he has been drinking with a little coaxing). Now when the Vet sees me they "work up an estimate". Today's estimate is $600....this after $1000 for Murph a month ago. Thank heaven for pet insurance! So, I can't even imagine what's wrong with the "little Dood". I hate that I had to leave him there....he HATES being away from me. It's always something....this has not been a good week!

Oh Jane, poor little guy!!! Estimates at vets are not a good sign!!! I should get pet insurance on Sheila. Which one do you use? I hope Guinness is better as we speak? I had 3 dogs w/ no issues and then one, a rescue, with lots of issues. Cost in thousands. So just in case, I should get she she insurance. Wish Shelley was closer. Hang in!! You are not the problem. You are the best doodle mom I know!!!!! Really!!!! Wish I was there to give you a big hug!!

JANE... Boy when I skimmed through I never saw YOUR post about the pancreatitis! Tori had this a while back! She got it from eating some Chinese boneless pork scraps my son threw out in the garbage.... HOPE Guinness is up on his feet soon! I know how worried you are! It just weighs so heavy on your mind and heart! So sorry I missed it (until the most recent post fromSuzann

OMD, Jane!! I am soo sorry to hear about little Guiness. Pancreatis!!?? I will have to look that one up. Is he home?? It is the worst to have to leave them there. It is hard with 2 little ones, it sees like there is always something going on with one of them. So glad to hear you have pet insurance!! All our paws are covered for a speedy recovery!

Jane, I am so sorry to hear that Guinness is sick. You do do everything right and you are a good doodle mom - food, training, loving attention. Maybe you and your guys just need a California sunshine vacation. Come on over.

Hi Jane, I know exactly where you are coming from. I have a $4,500 vet bill for Sasha, she was sick in June and a week in the hospital, relapse in Sept. and a few days at the specialist. No firm diagnosis. The first spell was either penomina (sp) or auot immune after the week in the hosp. she was better. Then in Sept. she started not eating again very lethargic, temp 105..... i rushed her to the vet he ran some tests put her on meds and recommended the specialist. After extensive tests at the specialist they could not come up with anything except for that "maybe" she had a relapse from the penomina (sp). He put her on heavy antibiotics, fever broke, she started eating and has been fine since = thank God. It freaks me out because I am the same as you, you feed them good food, take care of them, make sure they are happy etc. etc. and then they get sick. i hope Guinness & Murphy get better and hold on to your wallet. I am seriously considering pet insurance.
