I just dropped Guinness at the Vet, and they decided to admit him at least for the day to run some tests. I feel like these guys are always sick, and it's making me crazy. I try so hard to do everything I can to keep them healthy, but it doesn't seem to be working. Guinness had an upset stomach on Tuesday, some vomiting and refusing food. I thought it was an IBS flare up, so I didn't worry to much. On Wednesday he seemed fine and wanted to eat again, so I gave him plain chicken and rice, and he held that down with no problems. Yesterday he stopped eating again, and was lethargic. This morning when he refused breakfast, I knew there was something wrong. He is a little dehydrated (although he has been drinking with a little coaxing). Now when the Vet sees me they "work up an estimate". Today's estimate is $600....this after $1000 for Murph a month ago. Thank heaven for pet insurance! So, I can't even imagine what's wrong with the "little Dood". I hate that I had to leave him there....he HATES being away from me. It's always something....this has not been a good week!

OMG, I can't believe this. Jane I am so sorry poor Guinness is sick; I can't imagine how he got pancreatitis, either. I hope he does really well and is all better very soon. Hugs to you, hang in there!

Oh, poor Guinness. It does make you wonder how you can do everything possible to keep them healthy and they still manage to have something happen. Thank goodness you took him in and didn't wait it out until the weekend and thank goodness for a good vet that cares about the Irish Boys so much. Hope all is back to normal soon.

Murphy - you be nice to your little brother; he needs some TLC now so share your toys with him and don't pick on him until he is feeling better.

Jane, I am sorry to hear about little Guinness. I'm sure he will be just fine but I do understand the "why us" feeling you are having. It seems like we all sail along from day to day or month to month with no issues at all and then we have a month where everything hits at once. I had almost two months of that recently (not all Doodle related though) and we got to the point where all we could do was laugh and ask...what's next? Though I know it is no laughing matter when it comes to health. I'm sure the little man will be just fine but do let us know what the Vet finds. Hugs, pats and kisses to both the Irish Boys.

Guinness has pancreatitis. How does a dog on a home cooked low fat diet even get this? The Vet is going to keep him for the rest of the afternoon to see if she can get him to hold down a little food. If he does, he can come home on meds tonight, and then I have to check back tomorrow morning. I can't even believe this....here we go again.

I'm sorry Jane. Hope the docs OVERestimated on the cost and he's back to normal in a jiffy!

Boy, do I know what you are talking about! Two trips to the vet this week for worm testing, medications, and a test for heart worm. It does add up very quickly. But, having a good vet that you totally trust is invaluable. Hondo was always rushed in if he refused a meal, and that was infrequently. I cannot get over the habit of cooking for the dogs and they seem to really enjoy table scraps and home cooking. Thank goodness we are retired and can spend all the time that is needed with our dogs. Relax. Guiness is where he needs to be if he is having problems. Find out what is going on (if you can).

=( sorry about Guinness Jane. With a file as thick as Allie's at the Vet, I know how you feel! Praying it is an easy fix!
