Why is mom in a bathing suit in October??

I decided that I would bathe Toby in between official groomings to cut down on the actual visit ( this is the worst dog), the cost ( grooming price equivalent of hi lights), and let's face it, just the smell. Toby loves roaming outside ( free spirited bohemian puppy we like to call him) and after several days of jaunting around, he smells like earth. Figured I would conquer the furry beast in the downstairs shower ( in full swim wear ) which means I have to go in with him . It's a bit easier than the tub - no lifting . But boy is he squirmy. He bathed, I bathed , my son bathed ( full conjugation of the verb to bathe ), and a whole wet downstairs bathroom . Alas , he was clean. No more earth smell. Ok maybe I smelled but then I went and showered . What did I do before Toby?? Relaxed I guess. But in crazy way, I enjoy even crazier life with free spirited bohemian puppy .

Oh yes, this sure does sound familiar.   I started showering with the dog when I was pregnant and it was too hard to bend over the tub.  So I took Barney (miniature poodle) into the shower with me.  When we bought this house (24 years ago) and Charlie started the remodel, I told him I wanted a bathing area for the dogs in the laundry room.  He built a great area, double sinks and counters on both sides, a small hot water heater, and a nozzle for spraying them.  Groucho is so big, we have a ramp for him to walk up to the sinks, but Harpo just jumps right up.  They both like their baths.  The floor is concrete, so no problem if you spill some water.  We love it.

When it is time to bath our pack, I too, don a bathing suit and head to the shower.  It is definitely a family event at our house.  I start with our old beagle, Baxter.  Once he is done I hand him off to DH for toweling duties.  As he takes Baxter he passes me Harlow then we "rinse and repeat" the process trading Lacey for Harlow.

I bath Maddie in our tub but when she has had a dirty play time at the dog park I take her to our local car wash. They have turned one bay into a dog wash complete with ramp up to stainless tub, shampoo, flea shampoo and blow dryer. Total cost $7.00 Cdn. Maybe you have one in your area.

I always bathe Camus at home in the tub, which also has a shower with a hand held shower head.  I just get in the tub with him.  The only problem I have is catching him off-guard so I can corner him in the bathroom, once in the bathroom it is easy because he will get into the tub on his own (but only when cornered :)

When we lived in CA we always bathed the dogs in the tub. No warm water outside. In Hawaii the water from the hose is just the right temperature for a hot day. Still in a bathing suit though. ;o)

I have a bathtub with shower, and have bathed Trav a couple of times there.  Yikes!  What a circus!  lol

The bathing suit is the only way to go!  I don't bath my doodles but if I did.....   We do bathe our Springer (who cooperated mostly) and I always put shorts and a short sleeved T-shirt.

You are one good Doodle Mommy!  I can even imagine getting in the shower with Libby, especially our shower, we would NOT fit the two of us!  LOL

Me and Quincy shower together all the time!  It's a killer on my back so lately I bring in a small stool.  I don't want to even think about how it must look!  But clean is good!
