Our Murphy has always slept in our bed, but since the get-go he made his place at the foot of the bed and will not come up by us or stay up by the pillows no matter how many times I move him up to me. He's so soft and cuddly and I like petting him as I fall asleep. Anyone else's doodle just refuse to sleep near them?
Bernie will not sit on the couch with us and will not sleep with us. We can get him on the bed for a few minutes, but then he moves to the floor. Our guess is that it is cooler on the floor.
I guess it is just cooler on the floor, but don;t you wish he'd stay longer? I've tried everything, ceiling fans, floor fans, window open in 30 degrees weather, nothing keeps him up by us. At least he does stay in bed most of the night so I should be thankful for that much.
Halas sleeps in the bed with me most of the time. He lays at the foot of the bed while I'm brushing my teeth, etc., and then when I get in to bed, he moves up to the head of the bed and lays on the other pillow or right next to my pillow, but he doesn't stay there all night. He moves around on the bed during the night, and he doesn't usually sleep right next to me. I think he gets warm, but it's a king sized bed, so there's lots of room to spread out and find a new cool spot. My alarm goes off at 6:45, but at about 6:00, he moves back to the head of the bed. At that time, he usually lays on the other pillow facing me, so that I see him as soon as I open my eyes when the alarm goes off. Then we have our cuddle-dood time - lots of belly rubs and kisses. He's such a cuddley dood.
It really is sweet. I think it's my favorite time of day. He hasn't always done it. I had him in his kennel at night for the first several months. He was probably 6 or 7 months old when I started letting him sleep in the bed. But after that, it didn't take long to get in the routine that we're in. I thought letting him sleep in my bed would get me out of bed earlier, because he'd be bugging me to get up. But it's just the opposite. He loves to snuggle in the morning, and he's so warm and cuddley that I don't want to get up. My mom is staying with me now while her house is being remodeled. Every once in awhile, Halas will sleep in her room, but he still always comes back to my bed by 5:00 in the morning or so, just to make sure he's there in time for cuddle-dood time.
Murphy picked the spot at the foot of the bed by 10-12 weeks old, as soon as we knew he could not need to go potty all night. He just went there on his own and even that little had an opinion about not wanting to be up by the pillows. And it was cold. We were in Az., in our RV, we traveled to Utah and had freezing weather the first 2 months we had him. So it wasn't that he was too hot near us. I just don't get why some will sleep nearer to their humans than others. But Murphy isn't a real cuddler on the couch either. Told April, Murphy's breeder, that my next doodle she "makes" for me has to have the cuddle gene. She's gonna work on that one for me. :)
Peri is a funny girl. She sleeps on her bed (on floor next to our bed) UNTIL the alarm goes off in the morning. She is immediately up on the bed, stepping on Taquito (who is under the covers!), who then growls, then she proceeds to lick our faces. I am so in love with her - what a way to wake up. Can't help but smile :)
Yankee will spoon with me. I LOVE it! He doesn't stay there all night but he lays his head on my arm and we snuggle for awhile. Now that Finn is also in the bed, he doesn't do it as much and I miss it.
