Does your doodle have the best toys money can buy, but prefers to play with a stick?

Okay, so an acquaintance of mine gave me her very best puppy tip - to buy a certain toy that her dog and all other dogs she knows are just wild about.  So off I go to the pet store, shell out nearly $20 for this pink, glow-in-the-dark, bacon-flavoured fish that has scales which apparently clean their teeth while they happily chew!  Yah-right!  Gavin could not be less interested in it.  Gavin's top three favorite toys are as follows:

#3 - a tennis ball he found under the basement stairs

#2 - a flattened water bottle slipped inside a knotted orphaned sweat sock

and his #1 favorite toy....his tail!

Darwin rejects his Kong in favor of an empty milk jug. He loves those things!
Oh I had to laugh at your story! Cagney loves new toys but shreds them all up, each and every one of them... he loves tennis balls but the most fun he gets from them is ripping off the fuzz on them... he loves to tear cardboard out of the recycle bin, chews on kleenex out of the garbage, tears all the stuffing out of the toys we buy for him, any rubber toys get chewed up and then of course like Gavin he loves to chase his tail... his tail is one unattractive part on him... it looks like it is matted in strands from him munching on it so much... odd but true... funny dogs!
Tyson does enjoy his other toys, but his favorites are definitely sticks, water bottles, and tennis balls! And the older and nastier the tennis ball he can find, the more he loves it! Dogs are so funny like that--how they will prefer to play with free or cheap things you have around or can find outside.
If Peri could bring sticks and bark inside, that would be all she needs :)
However, she does love the $15 "destructive-proof" toys that I have bought her. But those are destroyed within minutes :)
This reminds me of our son when he was a child. Buy a nice, interesting, fun toy. Give toy to said child. Watch child play with toy for 10 min and then proceed to play with empty box it came in --for hours....favorite toys in his childhood....tupperware, pots and pans, wooden spoons, rocks.... So our doodles really are like our little children.

The empty water bottles are great, especially with some kibble in them for noise. Even less expensive than tennis balls and last longer than most INDESTRUCTABLE store bought toys we've gotten.
