I purchased Darwin's crate at Petsmart. They carry the brand Midwest, which you can also find online. It is a very well priced brand. Good luck!
And I think it would be fine to purchase a used crate. Just disinfect and clean it really well!
Hi Giggles. Have a look at Tisol on Grandview Highway, or Petsmart. Canadian Tire also sell crates and sometimes have good sales on.
I bought two crates on Craigs list. As Lexi outgrew the first one I sold it and received back what I had paid for it, when she was out of the second crate I sold it on Craigs list again, ...received back what I had paid and everyone was happy..........just disinfect and wash, can not do better that that! It took two days on Craigs list to sell both crates.
the thing with craiglististhat ..sometimes you dont find what you are looking for. most of the crates that are being sold dont diviiders or a handle.
Hi there I was just going to tell you that we bought a wire ex large crate that we used for him for a few months. We don't need or use it anymore. It is less than a year old. Then we found ourselves in a situation that we had to fly and that crate is not approved. So we had to go out and buy a crate that was approved for travel. I would have never bought the wire one at all had I ever thought that flying was in our future. I would purchase the one that is approved for flight right from the begining. Save the price of the other one at all. Once they are trained the crate is usless un less they decide that they like it to sleep in too. I probably would have purchased a used baby gate and blocked off the laundry room for him while he needed to be contained. If you have a spot that you can do that option it may be another way to go. This is just what I experienced and isn't based on the debate over crating or not crating.
We got an XL wire crate on sale at the TSC Store. Quality is very good and it has a divider and handle - but you will likely find that you won't really use the handle. The divider, we only used for the first three weeks. It was under $80. Just watch the flyers, as they go on sale every few weeks. Kinda like Sears. If you are getting a standard doodle, I would definately get the XL size as they like to stretch out.
I got my crates through Amazon.com and anything over $25 is free shipping. I bought all Midwest crates and I thought their prices were great and it comes right to your door.
i thought of buying one from amazon...and have it shipped to one of the mail boxes by the border. I find it is cheaper to buy it on amazon. does anybody know how much would i get taxed?
If you are shipping it from out of state there is no tax. If you pick it up in the US at a mailing address and drive it across the border it is highly unlikely they will make you pay duty or GST on under $100. If you have it shipped to your address in Canada you can really get stung with brokerage fees which don't show up until you get it. If you have a mailing address in the US, I would definately go that way.
