Double Puppy Madness

We have decided to add a second doodle to Max's madness. It is actually one of his sister's. The breeder still has two girls from the same litter. So of course they are the same age as Max, 17 weeks now. It is either going to be Sasha or Stormy. The breeder says that Stormy is Very active and larger and that Sasha is calmer and more of a follower. We are leaning toward Sasha from that description. Lol Max is a handful but I really think that having someone to play with is going to help him lots. Not Sure how old these photos are. The one with the red ribbon is Sasha and Stormy has the blue. We are heading out to pick one of them up in the morning.

Wow, I commend you for being so brave! I'm sure Max will love either one (and they ARE both adorable!). We were posed with that same question, when the puppy litter was 5 weeks old I changed my selection of puppies from a particular male to Lucy. I felt terrible for changing my mind, since we had had 1st pick of the litter and had emotionally committed to this male, but had an immediate connection to Lucy at 5 weeks that I had not had with the male at 3wks or 5wks. The breeder asked if we wanted both. Not having ever had dogs before I thought that was biting off way more than we were ready for. Maybe if they were smaller dogs (or maybe NOT), but that was one suggestion the breeder offered as a solution. The keeping each other company issue is good point, although luckily, Lucy doesn't have separation anxiety. Having a play partner would come in handy at times. I shudder to think about the cost of 2, as well as WALKING 2 dogs at once! Lucy is JUST beginning to walk on a loose lead out in the public (with a Gentle Leader head collar). Also TWO baths, instead of one?? And the grooming?? Boy I'm exhausted just thinking about 2!! LOL... GOOD ON YOU for having the courage, and I'd love to hear how everything goes!

I can't wait to hear how it goes! They are both sooooo cute I don't know how you could pick other than on personality. I think Max is going to be in heaven!! LOL Post lots of pictures!

I also should have added that my DK friend Michele got two standard doodles from the same litter (also from my breeder). Gus and Molly are the big red guys you may run across on here. She has had great success having two littermates. They are the bestest of friends!!!

We are back home with our new Sweetie Doodle. We ended up bringing Sasha home. The smaller and calmer of the two. Sister Stormy was like a duplicate of Max is size and actions. Wild and Crazy! They did not know there names as the breeder just called them Baby Girl. We have decided to name her Ephaba (for those of you familiar with the book Wicked) and call her Elphie. She is very very sweet. Kind of a rough trip home for her as she got sick a couple of times. She had shots, worm medicine, and a bath this morning and then a second bath after we got home. Poor little girl :( At the breeders house Max and both sisters all were having a ball together. Max got a little rough with her when we first got home but he had a lot of extra energy after being cooped up all day and she was of course a little disoriented. They are going to get along marvelously though.

Yes Debb the expense is something to think about. After your post asking you for a loan is probably out of the question huh? ;) We got Elphie for a really good price and we had two dogs before so we should be okay. I will keep everyone updated on how it is going. They sure are cute together and I do think they will be bestest friends!! I know they will!!

Lol No no pearls. Max would have just eaten them anyway. We will have to get her a pretty girly collar. Elphie is really prettier than the first pics showed. She was still wet from her bath. Max has given her the Max welcome home. All play all the time but she is starting to hold her own. Here are some later pics.

I think the breeder is going to keep Stormy. They have lots of dogs and a beautiful country house. Max does seem a lot larger but at the shoulder there is not that much difference. He is a lot longer. We weighed Elphie and she is a little over 23 pounds and a couple days ago max was just over 30. Lol she is quite protective of her treats. I supposed you learn to be when you are around lots of other dogs. Little quite one can be quite assertive when she wants to be. Bout gave me a heart attack lol. I am glad to see she can hold her own if she needs to.

Your babies are beautiful. I am more than a little jealous. I would love to have a second doodle but don't have the time right now for all the care and grooming required. I know you'll have lots of fun, enjoy your babies.

Thank you!! I am really hoping that this will allow me more time. Max is so attached that I have not been able to do anything without him. Yes my fault I know :) The day I first picked max up from the breeder she told me I would be calling her for another because he did not like to be alone. Lol I have heard those words in my head every day for the past 3 1/2 months.
