Help sought.....I had a breeder reneg on a deal. Details not necessary and it worked out for the best as the entire transaction had not sat well with me.  In any event, she stated she was putting the returned deposit in the mail to me a week ago.  My original deposit was in the form of a bank check and a refunded check in the amount of the $350 has still not been received.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Thank you,

Susan

Glad you are happy with your pup. With a breed in development there will be variation. Especially since they are not bred for one or two particular colours like a lot of AKC breeds. If coat colour was such a big deal I would suggest chosing a puppy from a repeat breeding so you could see what the range of coat colours was in the previous adults with the same genetics.
Interesting to note that while attending a local arts festival yesterday I admired one of the artist's dogs, inquiring if it was a labradoodle. The artist replied it was a 15 month old standard poodle who had started out as deep chocolate and changed in the relatively few short months of his life to have various shades of silver and caramel sprinkled throughout his coat. Dam was brown, sire was white and all previous litters of the pairing had remained true to their singular color. Genetics works in wondrous ways.
My Casey was a yellow Lab and as the only dog I'd ever owned I loved her dearly. But I'll never forget one day when I went to pick her up after a vacation and watched some dogs playing while waiting to get her from inside until it finally dawned on me that the yellow Lab in the center of the lawn was mine! The thing about some breeds is that they really DO all look alike....while the distinctive charm of these various doodle mixes is how uniquely individual they appear which I take as a positive thing. Although I certainly do understand surprise at the way they can change in unforeseen ways.

A similar thought came to mind tonight, during my wedding anniversary dinner, while recalling how my husband had first dazzled me with his long dark hair and a mustache - and now 33 years later continues to do the same with his clean-shaven face and (increasingly sparse) gray hair.

So, too, we'll love our doodles...though may they never go bald ;-)
Yes, I have also heard the chocolate coloring can change. Just be aware of that!
But that is great you have found a good breeder and that you will get your refund soon!
Welcome to Doodle Kisses!
Susan, one of the prettiest doodles at our last romp was a chocolate doodle. He was the only one that color and he was just gorgeous. He was 2 years old I believe, and his color was a rich cocoa. I'm hoping he comes to the next romp and you can join us to see him. April 10th. May have to hold it at the new house!!!!
I am thrilled to hear it....I've always been "Cukoo for Cocoa Puffs"! I've put April 10th down on my calendar. Now I just have to remember to LOOK at my calendar but I'm pretty sure you'll remind me.

How kind of you to open your new home to a romp. Have Windex, will travel.
Good News Susan!
I actually know who this breeder is: Heather Hale (Hales Labradoodles) - who did the same thing to me about six months ago (right before Thanksgiving she cancelled the contract). I would advise anyone who wants a caring breeder to stay away from Hales - she's done it now to Susan and myself - and whpo knows if there are countless others. With Hales, it's not about her caring for puppies it's about money, money - strictly a business with her.

This is the thread I started six months ago - I think you will see a lot of similarities between what happened to Susan and what we went through: http://www.doodlekisses.com/forum/topics/desexing-puppies-at-an-ear...

PS In the long run I am glad she did this to us because we wound up with Bailey and we are so HAPPY!
Jerry -

1 - the disussion is still there.(Before you editted your post you said it was removed)

2 - It was obvious that Susan didn't want to identfy the breeder

3 - Adina runs this forum and she DOES NOT GET ANY ADVERTISING REVENUE (Again before you edditted your post you said you didn't know who ran this forum and that they must be getting advertising revenue from this breeder)

4 - Again you come into this forum throwing accusations.
I actually tried to edit the above but was too late - the thread I mentioned above was one that I contributed to and had mentioned that Hales did me dirty - but here's the strange thing: I started a thread that was something like "If you want a puppy and if you want a good breeder then stay away from Hales Labradoodles. Guess what: that thread has disappeared - I have looked all over for it and it is no more! I have the feeling that Heather Hle got to the people who manage this Board and got them to delete the thread I started about her. If that is what occurred then I believe this Board is in bed with Heather Hale and any other breeder that contributes in some way. However, Susan is proof that what happened to me has happened to others.
Here's the discussion that "disappeared", Jerry. Guess what? It's right on your own home page here. Maybe you should double check before you make accusations:

Wow! If you're this wrong about your own discussion disappearing, and this quick to make accusations, I don't know that your opinions about anything should carry much weight. You sound a little paranoid, inventing this conspiracy scenario about people in collusion against you.
This board was created and is administered by Adina Pearson, who is not "in bed" with Heather Hale or any other breeder. In fact, she forbids anyone giving any breeder recommendations in the forums here, or posting any breeder websites or advertising. That's how ridiculous your accusation is. Adina is a person of the highest integrity, and many of us here resent your making such a statement against her. Maybe you should spend a little more time researching and a little less time shooting off your mouth.
Seriously Jerry, if you had been on with us a few weeks ago, Adina had a discussion as to whether or not and where breeder references should be posted. She asked the opinion of all of us.

Adina has founded a wonderful family virtual family here in DK and I would appreciate your doing your research before you start spouting your thoughts about her or anyone else here in our family. Those statements are not welcome! You certainly have the right to disagree with something that is posted but you do not have the right hurl accusations at ANYONE!

You had no right to print the name of the breeder since Susan did not! If Susan wanted to share the breeders name then she would have - how dare you print it and go against her? As my Mother always told me 'if you have nothing nice to say, then just keep quiet'.
