I was wondering if everybody's doodles sit, lay, paw, jump into little water puddles.
If i am cleaning something in the bath tub Java (my doodle) looks at me with the CUTEST puppy look, and then just jumps into the tub.  Is that normal??

Normal for US! Darby is crazy in love with water. Joins everyone in baths and showers... super stealth too. Many times I've been in the shower only to turn around and get startled by my crazy dood sitting in the shower behind me. lol
I think that would scare me just a little bit... that is funny.
Roo and Tigger are also crazy for water. If I want to take a bath I have to lock them out of the bathtub, because they are sure that I want company!
Well, i think that is what i am going to have to start doing. LOL
Mine isn't interested in the bath tub....but puddles, ponds, lakes...YES
My pup loves puddles and is very cautious around my pool. Not to completely hijack this thread...
But I want to know when is the right age to teach a doodle to swim?
I want my pup, "the dude" to be a water dog, but want her to respect when is a good time to swim in the pool, lakes, canals and ocean. Looking on when and how to train.
Darwin has taken a nap in a stream before. Seriously, he just waded in, laid down and fell asleep with his whole body in the water, and his head on the bank. Silly pup!
OH MY GOODNESS, thankfully his head was on the dry ground. java just lays in the water, paws.
We were watching him, so we would have woken him up. :-) It was pretty shallow water, only a few inches, just enough for a nice cool nap. :-)
I didn't have to teach Hunter to swim at all. I started taking her to the beach at the lake by us when she was about 4 1/2 months old and she just started going in further and further. Now she will swim and retreive for as long as you will throw something to her. I did make her wear a life jacket when we were boating because she would jump off give the opportunity.
i really don't know when the best time is to start training him to swim, I guess when ever you want, i know Java didn't until he was a little older than 4 months
Hunter is a water freak! She will lay in puddle, jump in a lake, play in our water cooler, and in anything she can find with water in it! Fortunately, she can't get into the bathroom or I have the feeling she would be joining us in the shower.
