Does Clifford want a doodle friend?

We have been wrestling with the thought of a doodle friend for some time. It would, of course, be so much easier if Clifford could talk but since he is keeping silent we are forced to make the decision for him. There happens to be an awesome doodle in foster right now so decision time is at hand. How did anyone else decide two doodles were better than one? (Can you tell we only have one child too?)

Thank you Jane and F. Parker. It's watching multiple doodle families like yours that has helped me weed through what really matters and how valuable 2 are to everyone concerned. My only worry is time, but hey, if they don't get groomed as often or they have to stay at our daughters or a friends house occasionally so we can go on trips, or God forbid, the retired firefighter needs to GET A JOB so we can pay for extra vet bills. then it's not the worst things in life. We are old enough now that it's time to not have any regrets for having not done something and having 2 dogs just seems to be on the bucket list for some reason. GO figure? I will keep you all posted. Maybe it will help you Kim as I can be brutally honest so I will reveal the truth of having a second puppy very shortly. hahaha

For now I'm only looking on this site. Filled out all the necessary applications and waiting. You know your Jasper was another reason I couldn't wait any longer. This past weekend - decided to go for it. If you know of a rescue anywhere, please let me know. My only criteria is a SMALL MEDIUM or at least no bigger than 40-50 lbs. preferably in the 20-40 range. I can't handle two as big as Webster.

Clifford, sounding a lot like my DH, said he thinks he would like a doodle sibling. Now the toughest decision...which one? Since Clifford is a player we'll want a sibling who likes playtime but he is also incredibly gentle and we don't want to mess with that. Puppies are already out, we aren't home all day and that wouldn't be fair. I always thought I would like him to get involved in therapy work or reading with children so maybe that is something they could do together. I know the right one is out there and my application is submitted waiting for the right one, now I just have to keep searching. Thank you to everyone for the sound advice, so much of what you said had been in my mind and it is great to hear that no one regrets getting a second doodle.

Kim - I just got a baby labradoodle (Oliver) for Sasha. It was the best decision I ever made. Oliver is 9 wks old. I just got him on Thursday and they get along great. Sasha was involved in the decision process of picking out the puppy. The breeder let me bring Sasha along and it was fantastic. He follows her every where and is going up and down the stairs already. My best advise is to involve Clifford in the process, let him meet the potential new dog. Having Oliver keeps Sasha out of trouble because they play all the time when they are not sleeping. Keep me posted.

Barbara - I'm trying to figure out how we can involve Clifford in the decision because I certainly don't want to bring someone into the house as his playmate and find out they don't get along! Because the doodles we are considering are in foster some distance away it is going to be difficult but we will find a way. That is excellent advice and I'm sure it will make the transition smoother.
