I hope this is ok to post..... my friend's son is getting married in Italy next week but they are having a US wedding in October. Her son wants pumpkin pie as their wedding cake. Appropriately so as his Birthday is Oct 31st!!! Anyway, she discovered there was a shortage and I know this discussion of the shortage was brought up before. She needs 10- 29oz Libby's Pure Pumpkin (not the kind with spices). Any ideas as to where she can get these. I checked Amazon and it's not available at this time!! We are in Northern California
Carla...I am in San Diego but I am flying out tomorrow for a weekend in Denver with my daughter. I can check at my stores down here on Monday if you want me to. Let me know and I will make a note to myself to go on a hunt for the Libby's Pure Pumpkin. I somehow don't think we have had a problem here but then I haven't had a need for it in quite a while.
do u have a Whole Foods Market there? They have it. Or you can look them up on line and I bet they can send it to you. Or another one I know of is called Fresh Market. They also have it. I bought the organic wgole pumpkin, not the one witht he spices in it...Hope this helps
Try Trader Joe's. They might have some. They have good prices too. Or you could try a local food store. It is hard to find. If you find it, stock up! It is also good for dog's stomachs. You can have it in an emergency. Good luck!:)
9 cans of Libby canned pumpkins for $59.00 on ebay. There seems to be some other brand's canned pumpkins available, if you go to "Google shopping". How much was the libby's canned pumpkin, before the shortage? 9 cans for $59.00 seems expensive...
This gives how to make homemade pie... which includes making your own pie filling. Interesting thing about this is this write up states that commercial "pumpkin" filling is actually made from a form of butternut squash.
TIP: If you're in a pinch and can't find a pie pumpkin, here's a tip: butternut squash taste almost the same! Commercial canned pumpkin is from a variety of butternut, not true pumpkins!
I buy Farmers Market Organic Pumpkin from Amazon. Certified organic pumpkin is the only ingredient. Be advised that there can be a few dented cans in a case, but I have never had a bulging can and the dents have not affected the contents at all.
$26.62 for 12, 15oz cans.
