Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
About two weeks ago, our neighbor's goldendoodle (Einstein) was having a playdate with Louie and Callie, over at Louie's mom's house. Robyn (Louie's mom) suspected that Einstein had eaten a the plush shell of a toy (the stuffing had long been removed). Robyn let Einey's folks know to be aware and watch for problems or potential blockage, but Einstein remained her normal happy self, eating and eliminating per her usual. Robyn figured that she must have been wrong and that she just couldn't find the toy. Then yesterday, Einstein threw up the toy (in car, on their way back to Atlanta). Two full weeks later.
HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??? For a plush shell to live in Einstein's (a 40-ish lb 10 month old goldnedoodle) belly without passing through?
I'm really curious about this.

I don't know either. But my Siberian Husky, Czar, ate two shish-ka-bobs, meat, veggies, and bamboo skewers. We were having a party and did not know he ate them. Since the skewers were meant to be thrown away, I did not count them. More than two weeks later, having shown no signs of feeling poorly or being off his food, Czar "coughed" up two clean bamboo skewers while standing beside me at the sink. He really just kind of opened his mouth, coughed and there they were. I even had a witness as my husband's mom was standing right there with me. We were both just dumbstruck. It was unbelievable. Czar never showed any ill effects and I never worried because I did not know.
There was a vet programme on in the UK long ago. It was a real life documentary and this large Black Lab came in and needed to be opened up. The owners knew of one ball that was missing - but the vets also removed another 5 objects, some were plastic toys, some were items of clothing.
The owners said that they may have been there for a long time as the children hadn't had the toys for ages. I've heard similar stories of Sharks being opened up and having all manner of rubbish inside them!
Our personal record is 4 days. I knew one sock had gone.... but eventually 3 appeared from one end or the other! Wellington is thankfully growing out of his habit - slowly =)
Wow. These dogs do have some amazing stomachs. Go, evolution.
Porter barfed up 5-6 shrimp tails from the Christmas Eve trash (Fri or Sat) on Tuesday morning, the usual 5 am roark-cough.
I saw this story on Petfinder today and thought of this discussion!! Apparently this dog had a rubber ducky in him for 9 MONTHS!!

And that it still looked exactly like a duck!! You would think the stomach acid would have softened it into a lump or something!
