As the temperatures drop here in Atlanta we are watching The Weather Channel.  It looks like Mississippi and Alabama are already feeling the ice and snow.  Stay warm and stay safe!

We have atleast 5" already and it snowing slow and steady!  Our area is expecting up to 10" with it turning over to ice later this afternoon/evening.  You are right Nina and Julie....there wasn't a drop of milk, a loaf of bread or any eggs left on the shelf last night! LOL

I'm a transplanted Yankee and have been down, south of the mason-dixon for the past 15 years.  Snow and ice will cripple this area for days.  We just aren't equipped to handle it on the DOT end of it.  We had an ice storm in '02 that had us without power for a solid week.  Some longer.  Snow and ice humbles us.  Frankly, the ice is what worries me the most......

The dogs absolutely LOVE it!

Ice humbles me too and I'm in the North.   Be good, stay inside, and have fun with your dogs.
I was just teasing you about not having the snow equipment - I'm really jealous, it would be nice for snow to be a novelty instead of an "all too often" occurrence.

@ Kim ....LOL... As a former Northerner I can see the humor too! LOL When we first moved down here and school would close for just the "thought" of snow I would die laughing but now that I've lived here long enough I completly understand why! LOL

It just keeps snowing harder and harder!  By any standards this one's going to be a doozy!

It was taken as humor.  I am a transplanted Yankee from Pittsburgh.  I remember having to walk to & from school 4 times a day (no lunchroom, students went home for lunch) in snow much deeper than what we have in Atlanta now.  The only time I can remember having a snow day there was when we had 15" overnight.  The only reason schools were closed was the teachers couldn't drive to school.  LOL
BTW, the South will experience another 20 year phenomena due to the winter storm of 2011... a spike in September babies. :-D

You would think NJ would be better at removing snow.  We got a big storm over Christmas and there were still road closures 3 days later!!  I know 2 feet of snow is a lot to deal with, but I think roads should be clear in one day (maybe 1.5 days).

We are supposed to get more tomorrow night...we'll see if the weather peeps are right.

I was thinking about our Southern DK folks this morning too.  The Weather Channel is keeping the rest of us up to date on your snow and ice--stay safe and warm!  Portland (the one in Oregon) is currently mild and green and RAINY, of course.  :)  Our doods are muddy, not covered with snowballs.
I think it is going to hit us in Cincinnati overnight and tomorrow!  Only looking at like 5-6" I believe as of right now.  That should keep us at home till maybe Noon, then we should be good.  They have it down pretty good here!  We have had record snowfalls already this year.  I think by Christmas it was something like 14" already and we normally only have maybe 1-3" by Christmas (don't quote me on those numbers but it was something like that).    DH worked from home one day in November and that never happens till January usually!
Oh you southern folks, I hope you've used up all the snow and there's none left for us.
I just posted (in BLOGS) a quick video of what we woke up to this morning.  My darling husband was sweet enough to shovel our driveway but sadly it's covered up once again! LOL
I just checked the weather map and it looks like Michigan is going to miss the snow for the most part...doodles and my son are not happy but I am!  Drive safe and stay warm everyone!
