Part doodle/part spring lamb?

When Dylan, our 18 month old labradoodle chases a ball or stick, he always ends with a very funny bounce on all four legs just like a lamb! He hits the floor with all 4 feet together and launches himself forward and sort of bounces before he reaches his prey.

Having never owned a dog before, I'm not sure if this is usual dog behaviour or whether it might be specific to doodles?

It's soooo funny to watch and I have to stand still to see it every time....my little spring lamb doodle!

I have had 4 Labs and they don't this but Rooney does, he is bouncy, flouncy, sometimes like a lamb, sometimes like a bunny.  I do think it is a doodle thing.  Does Dylan prance?  I've had several people comment that Rooney prances like the dogs in the show ring.  Aren't our doodle fun!!!!!!?

Oh good! Glad to hear it's not just him although he does it so well! He is just very bouncy. He can jump incredibly high. I have been standing at a mirror getting ready to go out and suddenly will see him in the reflection, leap in the air higher then my head! usually trying to get my attention.
Yes! They are fun!

LOL Our Gaston-Cramer does that! LOL  I think it's the poodle in the doodle that makes them prance like that! LOL  I think it's enchanting :)

Gavin does this.  I call it the bucking bronco.  Maybe a reflection on Gavin's size :)

Jackdoodle does this when we play ball indoors. He's the only dog I've ever had who does. It's just a little hop forward, but on all four feet, and it's really cute.

Rosey definitely has a a strut and prance and runs really fast.  Bandit is more of a swagger and scamper kind of guy.  LOL!

Lol! I think I know what you mean. Ollie does the pause...spring thing before he reaches for his prey too. It's really cute to watch.
