Am I a bad doodle mom?

Ok, so I haven't been the best at keeping up on Buddy's tail hair.  We keep the rest of him short and I always forget to brush his tail hair to prevent matting.  Well, today I tried my best to get rid of the matts and well, I had to cut them out.  So now his tail resembles the cowardly lion's.  I feel so badly.  Promptly when I was done he scurried under DH's desk and out of sight!  I know it will grow back but, please tell me it doesn't look that bad???

I think his tail looks very cute!  In the bottom picture it looks like is has come to terms with it.  He is looking rather proud!

Thanks again everyone!  He has chewed on the area a couple of times...probably what caused the matting in the first place.  But I agree, he is too cute!  Of course I am biased. :)

Lots of people do this type of tail on purpose! It looks so cute. I was looking at a video on youtube of a Schnoodle-he was "playing" the piano and howling--the video went viral for a few weeks. Anyway, he had a docked tail and all I could think of was what a shame it is to cut off the beautiful tail just to have a schnauzer look!

He's like the Doodle of Oz with that "cowardly lion" tail!  At least you only had to trim his tail after he got matted -- I had the whole dog and caboddle a few wks ago when my mini needed a full throttle trim - he's finally starting to resemble his old self again and I've finally started brushing him on a daily...well, more regular basis again. I vow to be a good doodle mom, too!
