Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Today, I was minding my own business when my daughter called and left a message with my husband. She and her husband were at the Rocky Mountain Cluster Dog Show in Denver, CO. Before I tell you the message, I would like to add that this is the child I was in labor with for almost 17 hours....the daughter that my DH and I sacrificed to send to college...the daughter and son-in-law who got married just last year and who I helped plan every detail of their wedding. That being said, here is what she wanted my husband to make sure he told me...Frenchies Rule and Doodles Drool.....and then apparently, she laughed. Oh, I should mention she has a French Bulldog and is getting another one in April.  She knew I would not let that slide and when I called her back, she was still laughing. To add further insult to injury, my new SIL (who I thought loved me) said and I quote, "We are at an AKC dog show and that means no Labradoodles allowed," and then they both started laughing.  It is times like this that I ask myself, "where did I go wrong?"and understand why some animals in the wild eat their young.

A little while later, my DH and I were on our way to Target and I called her back and said that two could play this game and I had a little slogan for her....Doodles are Smart and Frenchies Fart (I apologize to the Yappy Hour girls that hate that word). I was sure that would teach her a lesson, but all she said was that it took me over an hour to come up with a pretty stupid slogan. We hadn't been off the phone two minutes and she called back to say that my SIL had a retort...Frenchies May Have Smelly Butts, but Labradoodles are still Mutts. I asked her if it was too late to get an annulment, but they couldn't hear me over their laughter. At this point, my DH got involved and quickly said, "Doodles Think and Frenchies Stink" and then I added what I felt was the piece de resistance (and I apologize in advance for the bad language, but I meant business) and said, "Doodle Owners are Cute and Classy. Frenchie Owners are big dumb assies" and then my DH and I high fived.  My SIL then asked if Fudge came up with that slogan, but I had already declared myself the winner of the dog wars in my mind. Feel free to add any other slogans.

well played Karen.
LOL
LOL, no slogans but I'm cracking up at this discussion. You are definitely the winner!

Where, as parents do we go so wrong?  ;)    My son (up in the frozen tundra of the north - Michigan) just got a Blue Heeler puppy.  I'm like "what IS that?" - lol - I had never even heard of such a dog.  I'm sure I'll love Rio when I get to see her, she goes to work with him every day, so I am happy that he is happy.  Daughter and future SIL have a Lab.  It is too early for my brain to think of a come back but I'll ruminate on it today.  So far you are the winner.

I love your post...and especially love the pictures.  Your DD is lovely....albeit very misguided.  I've decided the kids do this because they're JEALOUS!  I think they resent the time, attention, and love we shower on our Doodles.  After all, isn't it supposed to be ALL ABOUT THEM!  My DD stopped in unexpectedly yesterday (so the Doods wern't leashed), and when the boys heard her at the door they went running and got the "crazies" as she walked in.  She looked on in disgust.  I was just waiting for her to say "how long have you been training them?" because that's her usual "slam".  Laurie, there is no doubt that you are the winner.  I can't think of any more come backs, but the ones you came up with are great.
Laurie.....Wilfred is a "brindle"  u can't see it in this picture and he too looks black.  He has tons of reddish brown stripes all over him.  As far as puppies go(he is 6 mths now but was only 2 mths old in these pics) he has been amazing....smart as a doodle.  We will be babysitting him for a week in March....I'll be sure to stock up on room freshener!! YES a lot of the young people today like these flat faced, snorty, smelly, little species and they are pretty cute but I will take a doodle anytime over one of these
I can't get over his amazing ears. My daughter looked at his pictures and said he is adorable. I would take my grand dog in a heartbeat. He is a wonderful dog and I am sorry in order to beat my daughter, I had to be a little mean about Frenchies. All is fair in love and war :) She loves my doodles too, but still thinks her dog is better.

I know Laurie...I call him Mr. Big Ears!!  they are like satellite dishes!!

Doodles or Frenchies...which one's the best

The doodle of course so give it a rest!!

Good one, Debbie!!
Mom, You have gone over the edge!
Hayley - we do find your Frenchie darling, but we are just a little prejudiced about our fluffy mops - as my kids call my doodles!
Nancy, Wrong daughter, but both think I am nuts about my dogs. It is her sister that owns the Frenchie. I still have hope that Hayley might get a doodle someday :)
