When Webster walks sometimes he swings his hips.  It's almost like an exaggerated woman's hip swinging walk.  Now he doesn't do this all the time but frequently when he is strolling, in fact, the more relaxed and happy he is, the more likely for his hips to do their thing.  If he is on a mission, his stride is straight and true, and just look out if he decides to run.  The boy is fast!

Has anyone else noticed the 'hip swing'?

That is my favorite part about Bailey! It is especially pronounced when she is super happy, her tail almost moves her whole butt... super cute :)

When Murphy was doing agility (no one had ever seen a doodle), they told me they thought I should get him checked for hip dysplasia because he "wobbled" when he walked. I was devastated. I got him checked and his hips are fine....Just that doodle "hip swing".

Thanks for posting!  That is my secret fear and I haven't really noticed other dogs doing that "wobble" so I guess I always worry.  Webster has walked like this since he was a pup.

Hope this helped a bit. Murphy is a 97 lb Goldendoodle (yay! he isn't 100 lbs).  

I've decided when he is strolling along, its almost like his side to side tail wag extends to his mid section. Very pronounced when he is happy.

Your "hip swing" is Rooney's "bear cub" walk - - kinda a stiff back legged motion that makes his cute butt wobble side to side.  I LOVE it!

Oh, yes!  Oliver walks with his tail up in the air and swings his skinny hips!  Last spring, we were taking a walk and a jogger approached us from behind and said, "I don't know if you ever noticed but your dog has the cutest wiggle when he walks!"  About a week ago we were participating in a group therapy dog visit at a nursing home and one of the nurses replied, "What an adorable wiggle your dog has!"  I guess that is one of his many talents:0)

Olivia used to wiggle down the sidewalk like Marily Monroe! Well she got groomed and my neighbor couldn't believe it was the same dog. She turned into a waif supermodel after being shaved down (my sister cried like a baby) A great ad for a weight loss product!(heheh)
