I have Embrace also. I am very happy with them. I also paid for the preventative care and in three months I have received back $320 worth of exams, vaccines, medicine, etc. I signed up my puppy the day I got her.
Linda, I agree with you about the importance of being covered for orthopedic issues. My best friend's 10 month old goldendoodle was diagnosed with hip dysplasia in both hips. Not a good situation since it wasn't covered by their insurance.
Great thread. I am definitely considering this for our puppy when we get her. Our previous dog had a number of unforeseen issues: age of six months ate clumping cat litter and was in hospital for four days, plus x-rays etc.; allergic to bee-stings and invariably got one each year; sliced her pad open on a hike; and in her final months trying to figure outwhat that was wrong led to thousands (and I mean thousands) of dollars.
Anyone in Canada with pet insurance? What would you recommend? And a word to the wise: use Swheat Scoop or some other non-clumping, non-toxic litter. Better for the cats and dogs who can get to it.

Never considered it for #1 doodle Murphy, and his ear infections were pre-existing, so no coverage there. But then #2 came along and being as she eats EVERYTHING, including hers and other dogs poop, wood, grass clippings, cactus, rocks, paper, tissue, Q-tips, socks...I can go on, but you get the picture. So with her, I decided it's not a matter of IF we will ever use the insurance for an emergency, it's more a matter of WHEN! Oh, and then the added risks of them hurting eachother in some of their wrestling sessions, I feel insurance is well worth it.
I have GoPetPlan, Bronze Plan. I found out that Giardia and ear infections are covered, even if pre-existing, if they have not been treated for them in a certain period. I think Giardia was one year, can't remember the ears. With Murphy it's an ongoing battle so I'd be dancing in the streets if he went one year without an ear infection.
Good luck all the plans are relatively similar, and there was a great comparison in one of the posts. but I can't find it either.
No sure if it's varies depending on the plan you have but it's 24 months without issues for the ears - was just talking with an agent at pet plan this weekend about this. We have the gold plan with a high deductible so routine ear infections won't be covered.
