She's a chocolate female about 2-4 years old, and she looks so sad to be in one of the worst high kill shelters in North Carolina. This shelter kills EVERY animal in their facility EVERY Wednesday.

There is a doodle backyard breeder somewhere in Harnett County that keeps breeding and dumping dogs at the shelter where they are killed if they aren't pulled or rescued. It makes me so angry!!!!

She is being flown to Atlanta via Pilots N Paws......Not via  a commercial airline.

Pilots N Paws is all volunteers - they are another great organization (501c3).  Pilots volunteer their time and planes to assist animal rescue organizations transport animals.  They do this all at no cost to the rescue organizations.  Though their assistance hundreds of animals are transported.  This saves rescues money, time, etc..  Many times this is the difference between an animal being saved and the other consequences.  They have become an important component of animal rescue.

Thank you Pilots N Paws and DRC for this rescue (and all the others)

No she's being flown to Augusta, Georgia about 2.5 hours from Atlanta where I am picking her up and driving her back to Atlanta and keeping her until Frannie gets home. :)
I feel like I should warn you about this dog's reactivity to other dogs. Please make sure you keep your doodle safe! I'm sure you will. Also, the pilot didn't take my crate, so there is no crate to go in your car. Just letting you know!!
I am sitting here in Ireland watching this amazing rescue unfolding on DK and am just filled with hope and love for all of you wonderful people.  I am sending you all our best wishes from my office here in Dublin.   We are sure that that sweet and sad Chocolate doodle will soon find her 'forever home' thanks to your kindness and generosity of spirit.
Any news on the Chocolate Doodle?  Did she arrive safely in Atlanta?  Who has her now...Frannie?  And Michael, are you fostering the blond girl?  If not, then who is getting her?
I drove the blonde girl to Virginia on Sunday to meet her temporary foster, Katrina.  I got an email from her yesterday.  Blonde girl is now called "Ella".  Ella is doing great, she is getting along with Katrina's Doodle, She learned how to walk up and down stairs, she has already learned the down command and is working on shake and her favorite place to nap is on the couch!  Katrina will take her to be spayed and then she will go to her permanent foster (I don't know who that is) to start her heartworm treatment.

I would like to thank Michael for orchestrating, pulling, driving and coordinating all of the efforts to get these girls out of the shelter and to safety............ She is a rescue dynamo!..THANK YOU MICHAEL!

I would also like to thank Ronna who also quickly stepped up to the plate without batting an eyelash to oversee all of the vetting and transport for our blond girl who is now being called Ella. Ronna has graciously donated Ella's initial vetting costs and personally drove her to her foster home in VA....THANK YOU RONNA!

Both girls are doing incredibly well in their foster homes. Ella is a sweetie .....She is a very loving, sweet and gentle girl. She is 2 years old and was probably bred every heat cycle since she came of age. She had a litter as recently as 6 weeks ago. She is heart worm positive and will be with us for the next 3 months as we see her through her treatment.

Ruby is also a real love....She just needed time to settle in and decompress.

Thank you all again! Great teamwork!

If we could bottle all this goodness and spread it across the world.  If we could realise that the way we treat our pets and animals in general has a direct bearing on how we treat each other.  If we could educated children to respect all living things and each other.  If we were able to achieve all of the above our world (which is a small place) would be a much better and safer place for all.
Amen!
Double Amen!!
You guys are all so amazing!!!  Thanks so much for all that you do.  My question is this - isn't there any local or county rules that can shut down the backyard breeder?  If not, than this one breeder could just keep this going and going - is there a "human kill shelter" where the breeder could be dropped off at? Kidding - sort of.
