I have poochie bells that are on a hook right next to the front door. I tried to train Rooney to use them without success, I'm sure this was because I didn't know what I was doing, I grew bored after a couple days and there they hang. So next to our bench (under the stupid bells) in the entryway, I have a basket and this is where I keep the new poop bags. They are supplied by our neighborhood so when we are out walking we'll take several and throw into the basket. This morning after he had already gone out and only gone pee, I'm on DK and Rooney goes to the basket, takes one poo bag in his mouth and then stands there by the door. So we leash up and out we go and he poops. So now I'm wondering - has he really learned to associate the poop bag to going poop? Is that possible that he could train himself to get the poop bag?Wouldn't that be awesome! I think he was just playing but I can dream.
I think it is a definite possibility that he knows what that poop bag is for and is telling you he needs to go! My Cooper will go on command, if I take a "Poop bag" outside with us and show him that I have one in my hand! I do this if I am leaving the house and I know I will be gone when it is around the time he normally has to go or if we are going to go walking and I want him to go BEFORE we walk. These Doodles are so eager to please and SMART!
No way that is a natural born talent!! He definetly is trying to be polite and not a noisy doodle. The gentle crinkle of a plastic bag is all he feels necessary to get his point across. What a smart doodle!
I think it is entirely possible! Tigger always produces some poop for me when I am picking up with the pooper scooper, even if he has already gone. I am picking it up so clearly I want it!
That is hilarious !!! We tried the bells too, but it only lasted a week or two. I didn't know what I was doing, I am sure. Milo would ring it with his tail on accident LOL!
