GAS...not the kind that you put in the tank of your car.

Callie ate about a pound of grass on Sunday (which she threw up...the rest of the night). We went to the vet, she got fluids and an anti-nausea shot and was pretty ok after that. Except for the GAS. On any given day, Callie is given to stinky toots. HOWEVER, it reached the point last night that her smelly tush woke me up at 3am! We are talking about a smell that was so rank that it reached its way through my tylenol-pm induced slumber! My first thought was that Callie must have had diarrhea in my bed. Fortunately, that was not the case. Unfortunately, she was sleeping in such a way that he tush was right up against my shoulder, so the smells were front and center.

 

Other than a cork, any suggestions to get us over this hurdle of stink?

My office has been laughing at me all day! I've had three coke zeroes (and I RARELY have any caffeine) because I feel like I'm in a coma. They think it's HILARIOUS that I was kept awake half the night by dog toots!

I wondered about this.  My dogs were always teenie tiny and so were their farts but Bocelli is gonna be 40 pounds and that's a LOT more GAS in his tank!!

OMD Frannie!!  You certainly have no shame, But I LOVE THAT!! You gave me the giggles!!  No advice but Bandit is quite a grazer to so I will be interested to hear if there is a cure!!

Suzann - the worst part is that it never even occurred to me to have shame about this! I asked my vet about Callie's desire to eat grass (like is she missing something in her diet etc) and her response was that Callie eats a well balanced diet and that she just likes grass! Oy!

We used to have some friends that had a schnauzer that had a gas problem and they kept matches laying around.  After a toot they would like a match and somehow it neutralized the odor.

at least this kind of gas is not $4/gal... I would say try switching her foods, flatulence usually fluctuates with diet.

I have learned how smelly dog gas is since getting Ollie. It is not fun. We figured out that even the tiniest bits of cheese would give him gas. He has been pretty much gas free since we stopped those.
