I was posting a comment on an adorable picture of Albus, and I was about to ask Caitlin what made her pick that name. I love it.. So if you don't mind sharing.. I would love to know, Our family is going to be welcoming another puppy soon, but my mom is getting to be raising her mainly so she is picking the name.

I picked Jack Daniels for three reasons,

1. Someone I loved very, very, dearly, died after his lung transplant and his dogs name was Jack

2 Little House on the Prairie is my all time favorite show and the dogs name on there was Jack, before bandit came along

3. Jack Johnson is one of my favorite artist

And well Daniels is my mom's maiden name and since I can't give her grandchildren, I figured I would name Jack after her.

So what made you pick your dogs name?

I wanted a flower name....Lily was taken by my granddog, Rosie was taken by my favorite sister in law, believe me she would not have been flattered especially since her niece, my daughter has reserved the name for her future human daughters middle name. Daisy is just cute, like my pup and it went well with Doodle.
Driving thru Austin Texas on the way home to Florida,  my wife spotted a Shelby Mustang, from Shelby county Tennessee.  So thats the jist of it...A perfect fit for our girl.  I couldnt imagine any other name.  Lots of nicknames though, too many to count!
We wanted to give her an Irish name because we have an Irish last name.  But every name we liked, we knew of or had a friend/relative with that name.  So a few days after we got her, my husband had her on his lap and was singing a little lullaby to her and I thought "Tura Lura" (it's an Irish lullaby....)   So she is Tura Lura O'Connell.  That being said, it is really difficult for people to understand or spell and I partially regret it now.  When we got #2, we went for Dolly ...she is a sweet loving dog, really a doll, so it fits.  Much easier overall.  Just looking at all the cool names is fun.  People are very clever.

My mom always used to sing me that lullaby when I was a little girl, I also used to sing it to Jack when I was putting him in his crate.

My mom wants an Irish name to honor her husband who died a few years ago, he was born and raised in Ireland

I named my dog 'Bocelli' after the famous Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.  I am a HUGE fan and his music has brought so much happiness to my life.  When my husband left me there were lots and lots of tears but listening to Andrea's voice of an angel lifted my spirits.  So it was fitting to name my puppy Bocelli because he too will bring much happiness and spirit lifting to my life.

Rosco's name was chosen because I liked it best off my list of many--NO special connotation or connection to anyone I've known or heard of including the Rosco(e) dude on Dukes of Hazard.

Boca's name was chosen because her foster name was Bokeh and I wanted something that had a more obvious pronunciation based on spelling.  Thule (our previous rescued doodle) used to be "Truly" with her 1st family and so she got a similar change except we made her name HARDER to pronounce based on spelling...lol.   Clark didn't like "Truly"

I don't think I've ever chosen a name (dog or baby) based on meaning or anything besides "oh that sounds nice".

Cooper is my maiden name - we got her just a few months before we got married

We wanted to name Darwin after a famous scientist. We had a lot of really good options but we definitely made the right choice. They both have great beards.

OMG that is so great!!!! I love the comparison pictures, I am still sticking with your Darwin being way cuter!!!!! This is an amazing picture... Did you see Caitlins of Albus from HP?
Maggie was the name the breeder had given her and I liked it so we kept it.  KoKo came to us the day after Halloween and I had a list of names related to Halloween.  We just couldn't decide so she went unnamed for about four days when my granddaughter came bouncing through the door and said she had just the right name.  She had been watching her Saturday morning cartoons and one of the characters was named KoKo.  That was it.  There are days though I still think we should have named her "Monster or Devil Dog".

Clifford was pretty easy - he is a big red dog.  Now that we've had him and see how gentle he is I hope to have him be part of a reading program  - and I know just what books he can start with!

We had more trouble deciding on Little Cloud.  I started with a list of names that my family quickly nixxed and they added some of their own which I didn't like.  We were at an impass but had been calling him Little Dood until we decided on a "real name".  My son had wanted Cloud (after a video game character) and when I looked at the picture of the character the heirdo looked just like our little dood but I still wasn't convinced about the name.  The more we watched him the more it seemed right - when he walks he looks like he is floating on air.  "Little Cloud who walks on air" is his high falutin name - a combination of Little Dood and Cloud.

I also like the two names starting with "CL", it just flows together.  (And at our training class we had Clifford, Cloud and Clyde all lined up together.)

We Picked the Name Tobey Because My DH Took The 1st Ferry of The Season To pick Him up ..The ferry from South Baymouth Manitoulin Island To Tobermory ( Tobey's full Name) A 2 hour boat ride each way
