Attempted Doodle Napping

A little background first - we have an electric fence and do allow our guys outside - checking on them every so often.

 

Around 6 tonight Sharon let the dogs out.  A little while later she hears them barking and my daughter gets a call that there is a man on our driveway trying to lure Boomer and Shayna to him.

 

Sharon goes outside to see what's going on and get the dogs in.

 

Our daughter calls 911 - it takes a long time for the police to get here.  By the time the police get here the guy is gone.

 

Please let's not make this a discussion on electric fences.  We must all be vigilant.

OMD!! How SCARY!  We just put up physical fencing in the front yard but we live right in town in a very high traffic area and have given everyone explicit instructions that they are to NEVER be left out there unattended both for safety and security reasons, not even for a MINUTE!!  Thank goodness Boomer & Shayna are okay!!  And we have a side yard and they can go out there alone but the gate is locked from the Inside at all times...

There is no guarantee that a physical fence would solve the problem.  In fact, your dogs may have run to the open gate and been grabbed.  Whoever called your daughter deserves a box of chocolates!

There are awful people out there. I lost two black labs being stolen from our farm and our neighbours had things stolen the same day. I will never get over that. They were our first dogs for our kids. And beautiful smart dogs but not purebreds. There were rashes of purebred nappings that year in the area. Ours looked purebred but were not.

Oh Andy - I am so sorry that you and Sharon went through that! You are right - we all must be diligent with our doodles and children! I pray that this low life is found and quick!!!
