Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Is there such a thing?  I mean everyone thinks that their own children are cute but lets be real - sometimes you just see an ugly baby and of course the parents haven't got a clue.  So couldn't that be the case with doodles too?  Would you admit it if you thought your dood was homely?  I just did some up close looking at some of the 14 week old litter pups that came out of the same puppy mill as Stuart and I just hate to say it but they are not cute, at all.  So now I'm wondering if that is what Stuart might start to look like and of course I would still love him but I would have to admit that he wasn't "Quincy" in the least.

I know what you mean.  I was thinking about this the other day.  Honestly, I passed up a litter born about 2-3 months ago partially because I could not get over how ugly the father (75 lb F1 Labradoodle) was...lol  The larger reason was that my work schedule was too crazy at the time and I would not have been able to give the puppy the attention it needed.  All of his puppies were cute, but I just couldn't get past the idea that once they shed their puppy coat they would inherit their fathers look.

Now, I am impatiently waiting to see how the litter I have been waiting on since the beginning will look.  My wait will be over on Saturday.

Daisy would also like to point out that it's easy for us GORGEOUS doodles to pick fun at the less fortunate.

Luna gets confused for a Duck Tolling Retriever, but I don't think anyone would call her homely ;)

I have yet to see a doodle that wasn't cute.  Some of them have questionable haircuts - but that bubbly personality shines through!

I'm laughing so hard!  YOU guys are too funny.  So that is what I will blame it on, bad picture taking.  Stuart is all mine no matter what he looks like!!!!  Did I mention that on our 1st trip to the lania yesterday Stuart walked right up to the shallow end of the pool - leaned over to take a look and promptly fell in, face first.  Perhaps instead of worrying about his looks, I might want to worry about his being a klutz like his mommy!  (He was able to stand up and get his face above the water and I fished him out as I was right there, maybe I'll have 1 doodle that likes to swim ;)
Perhaps he was so busy gazing at his gorgeousness in the pool's reflection that he just forgot where he was!
LMAO.....ohhhhh....poor little clumsy Stuart!   No video camera Jane?!
I really do think the transition from most adorable puppy to adult can be difficult for all of us. In my mind the adult dogs are just never as cute as maybe the 6-8 week old puppies. But then I'm at the life stage where I smile at and play with human babies in stores and restaurants.

The way Lachlan grows he's in the "puppy uglies" on average of once a week ... first his head grows (OMG, would you LOOK at that MELON on him!), then his tail (DOOOOD, watch where you swing that thing!), then his rear end (Hey look, he's a camel!), then finally his front end catches up ... and he starts over again! I'm just hoping he'll end up generally in proportion when he's done ... but no matter what he looks like, I'll still think he's the cutest dog in town!

Years ago I ended up fostering an Australian Shepherd male, 10 months old, because his owners decided they'd rather euthanize "that ugly monster" than wait for him to mature. Striker lived with me for around 8 months ... and then went on to his new SHOW home!

Sometimes there are just BAD pictures.

Cute picture of baby Rua:

She kinda doesn't look very "bright" in this one:

Just bad pictures...always cute puppies!

In that second pic, Rua looks like she may have had a night on the town with Fudge and Vern.

Oh no, not my little princess.  We do have to keep her away from our glasses of beer or wine!  LOL

Her Momma doesn't even go out on the town anymore.  She can stay home and have Yappy Hour right here, who needs to go out when there are all of you here on DK!

I guess I'm a pretty harsh judge of doodley looks. Sometimes Darwin looks less than adorable, usually coinciding with a haircut I gave him. LOL. Most doodles are absolutely adorable though, and that includes Stuarts cute mug!
