Hey all,

Little Georgia just got spayed today. She is doing well, recovering quietly. I wonder how long that will last? LOL.

Anyway, our girl is six months old and 32lbs. Her mother is a Golden Retriever and 60 lbs and her father a standard poodle, about 65 lbs. We assumed Georgia would be about 55 or so, but now I am not so sure. She seems to be measuring small for her age.

When did your doodle hit their full grown height and weight?

Thanks,

Nicole

Darwin was full grown at about a year. And he was bigger than either of his parents full grown!
Darwin always comes out ahead :-)

That's exactly what I wanted to know - whether a dog can get taller than its parents. Funny how I did a Google search on that and ended up right back here on DK.

My Chowdoodle, Zeus, who just turned 5 mos. old, is (I believe) 22.5" tall. I don't know his parents' heights, but from what I read, SPs range from 15-21" and Chows average 22". I'm wondering whether I measured him incorrectly, but he sure is tall for his age. He's currently 2" shorter and has larger paws than my Portie who resembles a Landseer.

I swear Seamus didn't stop growing until he was AT LEAST 2......honestly, I think he is still getting taller lol.  Stella, who is his sister (same parent dogs, different litter) is growing much more slowly.....I don't think she'll grow much past the age of 1...she turns 1 in August so we'll see.

It must vary dog to dog......As I said, my dogs are from the same parents and there is a HUGE size difference.  Seamus is 80 pounds and Stella is 40.....both were the runts of their litter.  lol go figure!

I know, it's funny isn't it? I totally know it isn't an exact science at all - my previous dog Parker was twice the size of her mom easily. I just can't remember when she stopped growing, she was a Lab x.

Love Seamus and Stella names - awesome!

Hi Nicole, When Quincy was neutered at 6 mos, he was 39 lbs. His weight seems to have topped out at about  9-10 mos 60lbs and he has only gained 3-4 lbs since then, he is now between 63-65 lbs. I think he did get taller after he was a year old but I don't actually have any measurements. I hope Georgia has a nice uneventful recovery.

Hi Donna, hope Quincy is doing well with his owie. Georgia didn't obey the lay low and rest directions today - she got the zooomies in the yard. It is a challenge keeping a puppy from being active.

How does next weekend look for you to do a walk together?

I can do a walk most anytime, when is Georgia's lay-low period over?
They said 10 days, so next weekend is clear. Honestly though, if I keep her leashed for ten days someone is going to lose their mind. She had the zoomies in the house chasing (playing) with one of my cats a few minutes ago. She obviously is not a good patient. :-/
I think our Vern is still growing. He was one in January and now weighs close to 90 pounds.
Whoa, that's a lot of doodle! I love big dogs though.

My little KangaRua who will be 1 on 7/27, is tipping the scales at 17.4 lbs.  She is a minature F1B.  I calculated her 2 year weight to be at 21 lbs.   Her doggy momma was 24lbs and her doggy papa was 14lbs.  I won't provide her human momma's stats, though.  LOL
