I have heard that a ticking clock is soothing for a puppy the first few nights... however I am having the hardest time finding a cheap one that actually ticks at the stores!
I also know about the snuggie puppies? I would love to get one of those for Riley... but have already gone way over my budget on her : (
Any suggestions on where to buy one of those alarm clocks?
Thanks!

Here is a cheaper heartbeat toy than the Snuggle Puppy. I do not know anything else about it, but as with anything, would need to be supervised. Also, there is a link on DK to order things from Amazon.com.
I would try Target for the clock and a fan helps too, to mute outside noises. Both my dogs had a Snuggle puppy and I really do think it helped. Good luck!
It seems that Westclox still makes wind-up alarm clocks that tick. You can find a selection of them here:

In my experience, clocks that run on batteries don't tick--so the wind-up style seems to be the key to ticking! I was surprised to see how difficult it can be to find a new clock that ticks. My DH and I collect antique clocks, so we have lots of ticking all over the house. Apparently, many people find that annoying! *^_^*
Best wishes!
