Downtown today I spotted this dog:

Take a guess what you think before you read on...

I first spotted it across the street and had a moment to ponder things before the light turned.  My brain went back and forth with guesses but as I got closer I decided on what it was and approached the owner dude asking "Is that a corded poodle?" He said YES and was super impressed so I told him I thought his dog was the wrong color to be one of the other corded breeds and again he was impressed because apparently nobody ever gets it right!.  LOL...what can I say I was really proud of my dog breed nerdiness...or maybe dorkness since nerd assumes I actually KNOW what I'm talking about.  Teeheee =)

What was your first and last impression before reading the answer?

Doable!   Would you leave the coat a little longer and corded?   I now know why they shave these areas..... hard to keep clean.   But the feet cord fast because of dew and the dry winter air.

I am not going to cord his tail this year. I love the doodle tail of all fluff. Plus, I think it was an uncomfortable area for him.    We want peaceful happy dogs   :)

I may start from her head. She can have her dread lock!!! Ya mon!
I thought about this for Harley. :-)
I really like cords, but I don't think I care for them on a Brown Poodle.  I think the dog ends up looking dirty and sort of grungey.  I think this is a much nicer look on Black or White Poodles.

Now that I look closer, this is a very old cording.   The ears and tail are the LAST to cord and it takes over a year for the hair on the ears to even begin cords.  These are well formed.

Still looks like an ALD to me.

I thought Doodle as the corded poodles I have seen I thought had their faces trimmed and not bearded like the doodle face.
OMD!  Spud is waaayyyy cuter than the dog Adina saw!  You did a GREAT job with him.  He looks adorable!
Thanks Traci   :)   It could be because I was told, I could NOT do this.   There were days I had to look the other way.  Honest.  But eventually it worked until the rain and mud, then the heat and humidity.  This fall, we start again.
I thought corded poodle or I actually wondered doodle, his face just looks more poodley.
Definitely poodle.   Puli face is different. Actually just checked out Puli images on yahoo and could barely see their faces.   LOL    Poodles are much cuter, and doodles even better!

See what you started Adina?

I would have guessed doodle - it looks stockier than a poodle due to the cording.  What a beautiful color.
