My old chow chow Butter's health has been declining over the summer. ( 16 & 1/2 years old) I felt like he was waiting for one of my daughters to come home from her summer job in Ohio. She came home on 8/25, and we took him to the vet. Since then, he perked back up, ate turkey and rice like a champ, went outside and was happy again. My daughter left back for college late sunday afternoon, happy to see him doing well again. Monday evening, he brought back all of his dinner, and since then, he is going back down. He woke up early this morning moaning and has been lethergic all morning. We are taking him back to see Dr. Sweeney this afternoon, but the sun may be setting. I am so sad.

He has been with us all these years and I feel like he helped me with my kids, and  protected us. They were all little kids then... He is such a strong dog, with pride and dignity.

Kyoko, I hate when our dogs get old....just hate it. I will be thinking about you today and hoping for the best, whatever that my be. Butters was lucky to find such a loving family and vice versa. The time we spend with our beloved pets is never long enough.
I'm so sorry... my heart aches for all of you!

I am so sorry to hear of Butter's passing. You have my deepest sympathy. He sounds like a truely amazing member of your family who came into your life when you and your children needed him the most. Although these next days will be difficult your cherished memories of him will be sweet.

Kyoko and family...so sorry for your loss..Butter is a hero and someday I like to believe we'll get to connect with them again!
aah so very sad but I'm glad he went peacefully at home in the arms of your son.
Sweet, sweet Butter.  He was there for you all those years and think about him running and chasing bunnies and not in ANY pain.  We will meet them all again one day.  Thinking of you and your family Kyoko.
My thoughts are with you Kyoko.
Kyoko - I'm so sorry to hear about Butter.  This is the one down side to having a pet - that their lives are so much shorter than ours.  Be strong and know that we're all there in spirit supporting you.
Kyoko - my heart is breaking knowing how difficult this is for your family.  May the wonderful memories of love shared - comfort you.

Kyoko, so sorry for your loss.  This is one of the hardest things to go through, my heart goes out to you and your family.

RIP Butter!!!!

His Journey's Just Begun

Don't think of him as gone away

his journey's just begun;

life holds so many facets

this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting

from the sorrows and the tears

in a place of warmth and comfort

where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing

that we could know, today,

how nothing but our sadness

can really pass away.

And think of him as living

in the hearts of those he touched...

for nothing loved is ever lost

and he was loved so very much.

Mr. Butter's health is not wonderful, but at 16 and 1/2 he's done really well!  I hope you get positive news when you see your vet.  Let us know.  We who have had to part with our older, beloved pets certainly know how painful this is for you.  Hugs and best wishes for a good outcome!

Sorry for your loss.

Cherrish all the years you were together.  Those memories will help you through this sad time.
